2GGC: Midwest Mayhem Saga was a Super Smash Bros. for Wii U major tournament and the 2nd qualifier in the 2GG Championship Series. It took place at the eSports Arena in Santa Ana, California on February 11th, 2017 and featured singles, doubles, as well as a SoCal vs Midwest Crew Battle.

True to its name, the event was dedicated to the Midwest Mayhem series (and the Midwest region in general) and featured past Midwest Mayhem winners Zinoto, 6WX, and Ned, as well as other top players such as ZeRo, Larry Lurr, Tweek and Samsora. Three other Midwest-based tournaments; FTS: The WRECKpublic, Kingslayer 2, and Midwest Mayhem 7: Mexico Invasion; were qualifiers for this event; the top-placing Midwest player from each was flown out to compete. In addition to this, the winner of a pre-registration raffle for Midwest Mayhem 7: Mexico Invasion was also flown out to the event.

This tournament was also a qualifier for Midwest Mayhem 8: North American Tour; the highest placing Southern Californian player was flown out to the event. This player was Rich Brown, placing 5th; despite tying with Larry Lurr, another SoCal player, Lurr decided to give the qualification spot to him.
