A stage based on the game Kirby's Dream Land (プププランド, Pupupu Land) appears in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. It is a scrolling stage taking place in various areas of the aforementioned game. Apparently, turning on the Nintendo 3DS's 3D feature will make it look like there is a Game Boy inside the screen. Near the end of timed matches, the battery light on the front of the system dims out as the real one would when its batteries died. It is unlocked by using Kirby's Final smash, Ultra Sword.
Trivia
- The Pic of the day from August 8, 2014 that features the monochrome Kirby and King Dedede costumes is likely a reference to Kirby's Dream Land, as the game would have monochrome graphics when played on non-Game Boy models, excluding Nintendo 3DS-models where both monochrome and green can be selected in "Settings". Incidentally, the Super Smash Bros. series and Kirby series were both directed by Masahiro Sakurai.
- Additionally, the Miiverse caption for the aforementioned picture references the Game Boy start-up sequence jingle.
- The fact that Kirby and King Dedede were used was a nod to the fact it was a Kirby stage, before it was unveiled as one.
