This is a page containing a record of all the major events on SmashWiki. Add stuff to it if you want. Note: This page was created in October 2013 and any time before that may not be as detailed.
2010[edit]

- The SmashWiki community moves to this site, moving away from SmashWikia, and joins NIWA (Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance).
October[edit]
- Articles, images, and other content are rapidly imported from SmashWikia.
- Shaun's Wiji Dodo becomes a user.
November[edit]
- SmashWiki's logo is updated to its current look.
December[edit]
- MHStarCraft becomes a user. He was originally named "....." and "Dots".

- PokemonMasterJamal3 becomes a user.
April[edit]
- PSIWolf becomes a user. He was originally named "Wolf rulez!".
- SmashWiki is not speculative is written as an official policy.

- MeMyselfAndI becomes a user. He was originally named "Conanshinichi".
- ToastUltimatum becomes a user.
June[edit]
- The Wii U is introduced at E3 2011. The next Smash Bros. game is revealed for the 3DS and Wii U.
- BlindColours becomes a user. He was originally named "Forbidden7".
July[edit]
- Monsieur Crow becomes a user, rejoining the wiki. He was originally named "ReiDemon". He was an acclaimed user by the community.
- 1337 B33FC4K3 becomes a user.
August[edit]
- JamesHeart123 becomes a user.
- RoyboyX becomes a user, rejoining the wiki.
- Smash Arena celebrates its 100th round of voting.
- The SmashWiki YouTube channel is created.
September[edit]
- Fugudev becomes a user. His old account was named "NotAnOuendan".
- RickTommy becomes a user.
- SmashWiki's userpage policy is put into effect.
October[edit]
- Mousehunter321 becomes a user. He was known to be very competent on this wiki.
- LightningBlue becomes a user.
- PenguinofDeath rejoins the wiki and applied for admin again like he was back on SmashWikia.
- SW:SIGN rules that user signatures cannot have images that are on mainspace articles and/or animated.
- SmashWiki's article on Super Smash Bros. 4 is created.

- ChuckNorris24 becomes a user.

- ToastUltimatum creates a second request for adminship; it fails.
- The discussion to whether to rename the article [[Hookshot and Clawshot] begins.
- The SmashWiki Status System is created.
- SmashWiki creates plans to improve its competitive play information. Expansion to the "In competitive play" sections has since been added. The community today still tries to improve the smasher articles and tournament pages.

- Brawls of fury becomes a user.
- Terrible becomes a user.
- SmashWiki introduces probation, a user right that disables a user from editing on his/her userpages and forums.
- "Relationship matchup" lists are banned from userpages.
October[edit]
- The VIP category is reorganized into Category:VIP players, Category:VIP tournament organizers, and Category:VIP contributors.
- NotAnOuendan becomes SmashWiki's first bot, run by Fugudev.
- SmashWiki's sockpuppet policy is created.
November[edit]
- Conny becomes a user. He was originally named "Airconny".
- MeatBall104 becomes a user. He was originally named "SmashBall104" but changed it since he thought it looked too generic.
- SmashWiki is not for off-wiki business is written as an official policy.
December[edit]
- The {{competitive-stub}} tag is created.
2013[edit]

- Pikamander2 is demoted from adminship.
- Ac2k becomes a user.
March[edit]
- After a lengthy discussion, Nintendo console articles that do not host Smash games are deleted.
- EXemplary Logic, SmashWiki's second bot, is created by Toomai.
April[edit]
- For April Fool's Day, the Main Page is translated into French.
- An idea for creating moveset subpages (containing detailed info on technical data and competitive uses of attacks) is proposed.
- Air Conditioner announces departure from the wiki.
June[edit]
- The {{technical data}} and {{competitive expertise}} tags are created.
- E3 2013
- The E3 Super Smash Bros. 4 trailer debuts.
- Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, and Pit were confirmed for Smash 4 as veterans.
- Villager, Mega Man, and Wii Fit Trainer joins as newcomers.
- The above mentioned characters have their respective character articles created on SmashWiki.
- A51 Trooper becomes a user. He was originally named "Boo Buddy".
- Scr7 becomes a user.
- The first moveset subpage is created.
- SmashWiki's Read This First, Man policy is put into effect.

- Olimar is confirmed for Smash 4 to return as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 becomes a user after previously contributed as an IP.
- Awesomelink234 becomes a user.
August[edit]
- Luigi is confirmed for Smash 4 to return as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- Yellow becomes a user. He was originally named "Timson622222".
- Smash Arena votes that express arguments are explicitly banned.
- Smash Arena celebrates its 200th round of voting.
- The Wikia SmashWiki begins plans to rid it of its old community influences.
- Major Smash Bros. websites such as Smashboards, All is Brawl, and the Project M website were hit and disabled form service by a unknown DDoS attack. It took almost a month to recover from the attack.
- SmashWiki is one of the few Smash Bros. sites not to be hit by the DDoS attack.

- Terrible announces departure from the wiki.
- The original Wikia SmashWiki is renamed "Smashpedia", and the domain is changed from super-smash-bros.wikia.com to supersmashbros.wikia.com.
- Peach is confirmed for Smash 4 to return as a veteran and her article is created on SmashWiki.
- Toon Link is confirmed for Smash 4 to return as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- SmashWiki's Username policy is put into effect.
October[edit]
- Sonic is confirmed for Smash 4 to return as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- After a long discussion lasting over two months on whether moveset subpages should be merged or not, the descriptions of the attack are eventually merged onto one page, with each individual hit's data having its own page.
- The discussion to whether to rename the article [[Hookshot and Clawshot] ends after a long time, with the result being the page name staying as is.
- A discussion starts over whether the wiki should provide more in-depth coverage of Project M.
- SmashWiki's professionals categories are split into separate games.
- Fireblaze77 creates a request for adminship; it fails. Shortly after, [[User:Fireblaze77/Why I'm leaving|he announces his departure from the wiki].

- Conny announces departure from the wiki.
- Marth is confirmed for Smash 4 to return as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- The Project M debate concludes, with the final result allowing PM to have character pages, partial standing compared to the actual games, and a PM game icon intended to be used on PM character and tournament pages.

- Rosalina & Luma is confirmed for Smash 4 as a newcomer and their article is created on SmashWiki.
- Zelda is confirmed for Smash 4 as a veteran and her article is created on SmashWiki.

- King Dedede is confirmed for Smash 4 as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- Monsieur Crow returns to the wiki after a year-long hiatus.
February[edit]
- Little Mac is confirmed for Smash 4 as a newcomer and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- Diddy Kong is confirmed for Smash 4 as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
April[edit]
- For April Fool's Day 2014, the wiki's main skin was modified to resemble the Hot Dog Stand skin of Windows 3.1, and various false upcoming Nintendo game releases and Super Smash Bros. 4 character confirmations are created.
- SmashWiki's April Fools policy is created.
- April 8, 2014 Nintendo Direct for Super Smash Bros. 4 was revealed and so is much of the new content of the upcoming game.
- Several characters were confirmed for Smash 4; four characters makes a return to the game (Yoshi, Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, and Charizard who is now separate) and their articles are created on SmashWiki, and Greninja is confirmed as a newcomer and its article is created on SmashWiki.
- This is the first time other than for jokes that the wiki goes on Red status.
- Conny becomes active again on the wiki.
- The language policy is declared a failed policy.
- Berrenta becomes a user.
May[edit]
- Ike is confirmed for Smash 4 as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- Qwerty becomes a user.
June[edit]
- Miles of SmashWiki creates a formal request on the status of Omega Tyrant; the inquiry results in a heated discussion on the behaviors of both administrators.
- MLG requests affiliation with SmashWiki. According to site host Porplemontage, as of July 2014, SmashWiki joined the affiliate network and is "still waiting for the new ad units."
- E3 2014
- Several characters were confirmed for Smash 4; two characters: Mii Fighter and Palutena, were confirmed for Smash 4 as newcomers. Pac-Man was also confirmed later that day as a newcomer. Their articles are created on SmashWiki.
- ZeRo wins the Super Smash Bros. Invitational; PPMD wins the Fan-Favorite tournament.

- SmashWiki's New game policy is put into effect.
- Several characters were confirmed for Smash 4, including Captain Falcon as a veteran, and Lucina and Robin as newcomers. Their articles are created on SmashWiki.
- ScizorSteelix becomes a user.
- DEHF wins the first Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS tournament at San Diego Comic-Con 2014.
- A discussion about the wiki's appearance begins.
- Awesomelink234 creates a request for adminship; it fails.
- Toomai publicly posts the results of a survey on Miles' and Omega Tyrant's administrative abilities.

- Awesomelink234 creates a second request for adminship; it fails.
- Meta Knight is confirmed for Smash 4 as a veteran and his article is created on SmashWiki.
- Shulk, Bowser Jr., and Ganondorf are confirmed for Smash 4 and their articles are created on SmashWiki.
September[edit]
- Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS releases in Japan, confirming veterans Ness, Jigglypuff, Dr. Mario, Falco, Mr. Game & Watch, Wario, and R.O.B., along with newcomers Bowser Jr., Duck Hunt and Dark Pit. Their articles are created on SmashWiki.
- Rtzxy becomes a user.
- Air Conditioner becomes active again on the wiki.
- Berrenta creates a request for adminship; she eventually withdrew, causing it to fail.

- Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is released outside of Japan.

- ZeldaStarfoxfan2164 creates a request for adminship; he withdrew, causing it to fail.
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is released in North America.

- SmashWiki Status System moves from red to yellow status after the end of the Super Smash Bros. 4 information rush.

- Junior administrators and Junior administrators (version 2) are declared failed policies.

- Nyargleblargle successfully becomes an administrator.
- INoMed becomes a user.
October[edit]
- SmashWiki's neutral tone guide is put into effect.
- The creating new articles policy is put into effect.
November[edit]
- Serpent King successfully becomes an administrator.
- Miles of SmashWiki creates a request for bureaucratship; it fails.
- SmashWiki's Smasher article guidelines is put into effect.
2016[edit]
- Somewhere around this time, MHStarCraft, Dots at the time, decides to become inactive without a declaration of doing so.
March[edit]
- Many old competitive navigation templates are removed from SmashWiki.
- Disaster Flare successfully becomes an administrator.
November[edit]
- The SmashWiki Discord server is launched.
2017[edit]

- A proposal is created to remove Project M content from the wiki. The proposal draws heated outrage on reddit, and it ultimately fails, under the consensus that information relevant to a previous era will always remain notable on SmashWiki. Supporters of the proposal are widely criticized for having a large anti-PM bias, and for miscontruing many key facts regarding the state of PM tournament activity.
July[edit]
- Monsieur Crow creates the essay "What Makes An Admin".
- The neutral tone guide is repealed and is replaced with Neutral Point of View.
- The consensus policy is put into effect.
August[edit]
- Serpent King successfully becomes a bureaucrat.
December[edit]
- The retired administrators rank is created, and several long inactive sysops are demoted to this rank.

- The Team and Tournament namespaces are introduced.

- Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Switch is announced for release in 2018 and its article is created on SmashWiki.
