The 2GG Championship Series, or 2GGC, is an ongoing Super Smash Bros. for Wii U circuit of tournaments being held throughout 2017 in South California and Nevada as a collaboration between 2GGaming and eSports Arena. It was announced at the end of 2GGT: ZeRo Saga, and is the spiritual successor to the 2GGT series of tournaments.

Format

Twelve tournaments will be hosted, one for each month of the year. A prize pot bonus of $50,000 will be distributed across the tournaments from January to November, and another $50,000 will be in play for the final 2GG Championship tournament in December, making for a total of a $100,000 pot bonus throughout the entire circuit. Players who win any of the tournaments in the series will qualify into the Championship, having their travel expenses paid for; other players may also qualify through points earned by placing top 16 in circuit tournaments. Three tournaments within the series are considered season finales, those being 2GGC: Civil War, 2GGC: Nairo Saga and 2GGC: September Saga, and will be two to three day events where the qualifying points are doubled. In the end, a total of 20 players will be qualified.

Trivia

  • The "Saga Curse" that occurred in the 2GGT series is considered to have continued into the 2GG Championship Series. Here is each sagas' featured player(s) highest placings:
    • GENESIS Saga - 1st* (ZeRo, the saga's winner, placed 3rd at GENESIS 4, the tournament which it promoted and was dedicated to)
      • This is the only curse to have been a result of a certain player winning a Saga and then failing to win another tournament, as opposed to failing to win the Saga they represent.
    • Midwest Mayhem Saga - 4th (Ned, the highest placing out of anyone who was either a Midwest Mayhem winner and/or from the Midwest).
      • ZeRo, the tournament's winner, didn't reside in the Midwest until after the tournament.
    • Civil War - 49th (ZeRo) and 25th (Ally), a tournament intended to highlight their rivalry.
    • Greninja Saga - 13th (Lea, the highest placing Greninja player).
    • Nairo Saga - 4th
    • ARMS Saga - 17th (Lazyboredom, the highest placing Little Mac player)/25th (Sol, the winner of the ARMS side tournament).
