Wii Fit Studio[1] (Wii Fit スタジオ, Wii Fit Studio) is a stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Overview

Wii Fit Studio consists mainly in a large floor covering all the horizontal range of the screen up to the lateral blast lines: there are no pits of any kind. It is impossible to be star KO'd or screen KO'd, most likely due to the mirror.

The background consist in a giant mirror reflecting the battle, which allows viewers to see beyond the normal limits of the screen, but not beyond the blast lines. The mirror can at times disappear, being replaced with a white background featuring silhouettes which demonstrate yoga positions.

While the mirror is active, two or three Wii Balance Boards acting as pass-through platforms can descend from the ceiling, and will ascend after some time. Like Umbra Clock Tower's, Prism Tower's, Magicant's and 3D Land's (post-1.0.4) platforms, they disappear just before hitting the upper blast line. The platforms' layouts are random, and they can appear in 125 different configurations.

An animated Wii Balance Board waddles around and occasionally stops and stretches facing the camera, but has no bearing on the battle. At times, the Trainer's voice is heard.

In the 8-player version of the stage, the mirror does not appear at all.

Ω Form

The Omega form removes walk-off blast lines and Wii Fit board platforms. The stage only features the background with the trainer's silhouette. The walking Wii Fit board is absent.

Update history

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U 1.0.2

  • Added 8-player mode version of the stage. The existing Ω form remained at a max of 6 players.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U 1.0.6

  • Added 8-player mode version of the Ω form.

Origin

The studio as it appears in Wii Fit.

The stage is based on the Wii Fit Trainer's studio in Wii Fit: they appear in it when they interact with the player.

The Wii Balance Board is an actual Wii accessory, used to play the Wii Fit games and available as part of the control scheme of other games. An animated Wii Balance Board acts as the player's advisor in the Wii Fit games.

Tournament legality

Wii Fit Studio is universally banned from tournaments due to the presence of walk-off blast lines which encourage camping and allow for early KOs.
