NTSC The first hero from the Fire Emblem series, Marth is the prince of Altea and descendant of the hero Anri. In Smash Bros., he's known as an exceptional swordfighter, swinging his blade with grace. Striking with the tip will maximize the damage dealt. Teach aggressive foes a lesson with his strong Counter move.

PAL Marth, the prince of Altea, is the hero of the first ever Fire Emblem game and its remake, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. In this game, his graceful sword skills are what set him apart. Strike with the tip of his blade to deal extra damage, and use his Counter skill to defend yourself, no matter which directions you're being attacked from.

NTSC Marth's side special Dancing Blade is a four-stage attack. Aim and time your strikes carefully! The tip of his sword does the most damage. For his up smash, Justice Sword, he thrusts his blade into the air. You can use it to block attacks from above and launch nearby foes.

Ike Fighter IkeTrophy3DS.png IkeTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC One of the main characters from the Fire Emblem series. Having fought in the Mad King's War, restored the fallen nation of Crimea, and taken on the Begnion Empire, Ike is rightly called a hero. He has the strength to back the title—one good swing of his blade can launch the heaviest of foes.

NTSC Ike's side smash is a powerful two-handed sword strike. It's one of the best launch attacks in the entire game, though it will leave you wide open when you use it. For Eruption, one of his specials, you stab the ground and unleash a pillar of fire. Charging for too long will hurt Ike, so be careful!

When she comes from the future to prevent a terrible future from unfolding, she goes by the name of Marth, but only until her true identity comes to light. NTSC Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS This is the male Robin, your avatar in Fire Emblem Awakening. PAL When Robin is found at the start of Fire Emblem: Awakening, he (or she!) discovers that, even without his memories, he is a master tactician. In this game, his attacks are powerful, but in true Fire Emblem style, how many times his magic can be used is limited. This also applies to the thunder magic his sword is imbued with.

Robin (Alt.) Fighter RobinAltTrophy3DS.png RobinAltTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Robin's magic is powerful, but it has limited uses before needing to recharge. Thunder can be charged in stages, will become Thoron at max charge, and gains damage and speed with its charge. Arcfire creates a flame pillar, perfect for dealing with an edge-clinging foe.

PAL Robin's magic is powerful, but in return, its uses are limited. You can charge Thunder in steps, and when it's fully charged, it turns into Thoron, increasing its speed and dealing more damage. Arcfire creates a flame pillar when it hits something. Use it on an opponent who's clinging to an edge to stop them getting back on the stage.

Roy Fighter RoyTrophy3DS.png RoyTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Roy, the main character of Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade, returns for the first time since Melee! Roy (Alt.) Fighter RoyAltTrophy3DS.png RoyAltTrophyWiiU.png

NTSC Flare Blade creates an explosion in front of Roy that can be charged by holding down the button. Take care, though, because at the highest levels of charge, Roy himself will catch fire and take damage! His side special, Double-Edge Dance, changes for each strike after the first depending on whether you hold up or down while attacking.

Trivia

Tharja's scrapped trophy.
  • A trophy of Tharja from Fire Emblem: Awakening was planned for inclusion in the game, and can be seen in the ESRB leak. However, the trophy was not unlocked when Japanese copies of the game were displayed on Twitch, and when the trophy files were accessed via hacking, there was no data relating to her trophy, implying that it was removed from the game some time after it was recorded for the ESRB review footage. It can be speculated that her design may have been considered too suggestive for the game to keep its intended E10+ ("Everyone ten and up") rating, and was removed in order to maintain such a rating; by comparison, Fire Emblem: Awakening received a T ("Teen") rating from the ESRB. Despite this, Bayonetta was added to the game, leaving it unknown why Tharja was really removed.
  • Oddly, Marth's game appearances are the same in all versions of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, despite making his western debut outside of Smash in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for the Nintendo DS. The Famicom and Super Famicom symbols are even used in the western versions.
