Article on Wikipedia Duck Hunt

Duck Hunt is a stage that appears in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, based directly on the NES game Duck Hunt. It is set in the grassy field from that game. The stage keeps its appearance from the original game, even retaining the HUD.

Overview

The main platform is the dirt and grass. A bush on the right serves as a platform, and so do the leaves on the tree on the left. A patch of grass may pop up in front of the main field of grass, which due to the 2D effect on all fighters and items, will hide anything behind it. Ducks may appear in the background, which can be hit, and added up to the score shown below. The ducks will sometimes drop items. The 8-bit dog will then appear to collect the fallen ducks or laugh (depending on if any ducks get hit or not) and act as a temporary platform. After 10 ducks either get knocked down or fly away, if the quota is met, the next round will begin. If all 10 ducks are knocked down a 'Perfect' sign will be displayed in the centre of the stage just as in the original Duck Hunt. In 8-Player Smash, no ducks or dog appear at all.

Trivia

    • Along with Duck Hunt's trailer for Super Smash Bros. 4, it was also revealed that Duck Hunt will be available for purchase on the Wii U's Virtual Console.
    • When zoomed completely out on this stage or in a special smash with the camera set to the fixed position, the dark shaded areas on each side of the screen replicate the cropping of the Virtual console release of Duck Hunt.
    • Although the stage appears to be 2D when viewed in the camera, the ground, tree, bush and moving grass sections have raised 3D parts.
    • During each round on this stage there are both sets of one duck and two ducks, combining both game A and game B of the original Duck Hunt.
