SSB4 Super Mario Bros. U.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's a new Wii U stage, Mushroom Kingdom U! It brings to life the worlds of New Super Mario Bros. U. Confirms a new stage for the Wii U version based on New Super Mario Bros. U, with the aesthetic of that game's first world, Acorn Plains. Kamek, a recurring Mario antagonist, will be able to transform the stage into at least one variant, with the known one being based on the sixth world in NSMBU, Rock-Candy Mines.

SSB4 Super Mario Bros. U-2.jpg
When Kamek casts a spell, the stage transforms drastically! That said, this is not what you would call a moving stage…
…By the way, this stage will be playable in the demo version of the game for E3, a game expo that starts on June 10 in Los Angeles.

SSB4 Tortimer Island Trophy.jpg
Pic of the day. Some stages have been shrunk down and made into trophies, like this one of Tortimer Island for the 3DS version. I wish I could have a figurine like this in real life. Confirms that in at least the 3DS version, some stages will appear as trophies.

SSB4 Boomerang Item.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's a new item that we've thrown in--the boomerang. As you'd guess, it'll fly back into your hands after you throw it, and if you keep catching it, its attack power grows with each throw! However, opponents can nab the boomerang out of the air, so it might be an easier item to use in Smash Run. Gives details on how the new Boomerang item works.

SSB4 Town and City The Roost.jpg
Pic of the day. Brewster brings The Roost back to Smash Bros. Nothing beats watching a battle of famous fighters with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Confirms that events may take place in the background during fights in Town and City, similarly to Smashville.

SSB4 Fire Emblem Stage Wii U.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's Ike, Marth and…a brand-new stage! Confirms a new Fire Emblem stage for the Wii U version of the game.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSB4 Coliseum.jpg
We've added a familiar setting from the Fire Emblem series, the Coliseum. In the original game, this place is filled with both hope and despair. There is machinery in the ground that activates variable platforms.

Meloetta SSB4.jpg
Pic of the day. Remember the video that introduced Greninja joining the battle? Every Pokémon that appeared in that video will make some kind of appearance in Super Smash Bros! By the way, here's one of the Pokémon that didn't make an appearance in that video--Meloetta. Its vocal attacks reflect off land forms, so they'll be especially effective in a closed environment. Confirms that every Pokémon in Greninja's reveal trailer will appear in the new games, though in what capacity they will appear is not stated. Whether they will appear as Poké Ball or Master Ball assist characters or will simply appear as collectibles like trophies was left ambiguous. Known Pokémon that appeared in that trailer that have not been seen in other footage or screenshots are Gardevoir, Giratina, Inkay, Kyogre, Oshawott, Togepi, Snivy, Suicune, Swirlix, and Zoroark. Interestingly, Sakurai remarks that Meloetta wasn't shown in Greninja's debut trailer, when one in fact can be briefly seen among the summoned Pokemon (between Deoxys and Keldeo).

SSB4 - Golden Plains 01.jpg
Pic of the day. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a game where you collect tons of coins. Thus, it's only natural that many coins will appear in this stage… Wait, is this really Super Smash Bros?? Confirms a new stage for the 3DS version based on New Super Mario Bros. 2. Also talks about the stage's exclusive gimmick of becoming a Gold Fighter, and the benefits that come with it. This is notably the first multiplayer stage shown to take advantage of each player having their own system for the 3DS version, done by showing the player's coin counter in the top left.
Miiverse Icon.png
SSB4 - Golden Plains 02.jpg
If you collect 100 coins, you transform into a gold fighter! For a short period of time, your attack power will increase and you won't flinch when you receive attacks. This unique stage's name is Golden Plains and it's exclusive to the 3DS version.

SSB4 Mii Fighter Screen-1.jpg
Posting at a not-so-typical time of the day.
An announcement has been made at E3: Mii Fighters are joining the battle!! "You can fight--anyone can fight!"
Confirms the arrival of two newcomers: Miis, which are divided into three separate classes (Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner), as well as Palutena. Sakurai also mentions that Palutena's attacks are based on powers from Kid Icarus Uprising.

PotD Palutena comment.jpg
And Palutena is joining the battle! She's using a lot of powers in the video we released, but these are only a few of the powers featured in Kid Icarus: Uprising. For more details, check out the Super Smash Bros. official website.

For the first time ever, we will be holding a tournament using an in-development version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U! And you can watch the tournament live by visiting the website below!! Bear in mind, every participant will have little to no experience playing with the Wii U version...but what makes the Smash Bros. series really remarkable is the importance of improvisation over memorization. I'd like to stress that this is a work-in-progress version of the game, so please forgive us if we run into some issues. Posted with a link to the Invitational's website.

Pac-Man reveal POTD.jpg
Pic of the day, and a surprise announcement. A milestone of video-game history--PAC-MAN joins the battle! He's even older than Mario!! Confirms Pac-Man as a newcomer. Posted late June 10th (USA time zones), and was functionally the pic of the day for June 11th.

SSB3DS Home Run Contest.jpg
Pic of the day. The goddess is up to bat for the Home-run Contest, a returning mini-game on the 3DS version! It's been streamlined with added features here and there, like sturdier glass and doubled speed for long hits. You can also have fun comparing your rankings for this mini-game with your Global Smash Power. Shows a clear confirmation of the Home-Run Contest returning in the 3DS version, which was briefly seen in the E3 2014 Digital Event trailer two days prior. The post confirms a few tweaks that have been made to the mode, and that its scores will be among the "solo mode" scores used for Global Smash Power online rankings.

SSB4 - The Fantastic Classic Four.jpg
Pic of the day. This is quite a line-up of characters for the gaming world. I mean, it's amazing enough that Mario can fight Pikachu. I hope you enjoy this truly unique celebration!! Sakurai comments on the surreal feeling he gets from the fact that four classic gaming all stars are appearing in a game of his own creation.

SSB4 - Mii Swordfighter Specials.jpg
Pic of the day. Here are some weapons the Mii Swordfighter can use: Shurikens of Light, Chakrams, and Gale Strikes. You can control the direction the Chakram is thrown, or even make it stall in midair. The Chakram is also the only one of these tied to the side special move, so you can use one of the other items consecutively with this one. Shows off some of the Mii Swordfighter's special moves.

SSB4 Eggrobo Trophy 3DS.jpg

Trophy Rush.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's a new mini-game that's quite a bit different from Coin Launcher in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It's called Trophy Rush! The details…will be kept secret for now. Confirms one of the modes seen the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS E3 trailer as Trophy Rush. No specific details are given, but Sakurai does compare it to the Coin Launcher from Brawl.

Pac-Man Bonus Fruit SSB4.jpg
Pic of the day. Pac-Man's standard special move, Bonus Fruit. As you charge this move, the bonuses will change, and all of them have different characteristics and movement patterns when thrown. The bonuses cycle in the same order as in the original game, and the charge-up period doubles once you cycle beyond the orange. Confirms Pac-Man's neutral special move as Bonus Fruit and gives details on how it works.

Storm Punch.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's Donkey Kong's third standard special attack, Storm Punch!! Thanks to the customization options, each fighter is stocked with 12 different special moves. The number of attacks is pretty appalling. Confirms one of Donkey Kong's alternative Neutral Specials.
Miiverse Icon.png
We've made it so that customization options, including special attacks, will be disabled when you're playing online in With Anyone mode. After all, we have to think about game balance, and it's crucial for anonymous players to be able to use reliable tactics against one another. When you're playing in single player, battling with friends online, or playing locally, you're free to play however you want--with or without customization.

Pic of the day. Here's Link in an outfit based on his ordinary clothes in Skyward Sword! The art style looks a little different, but the actual clothing model is still his usual tunic. Link is revealed to have an alternate costume based on his ordinary clothes from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

SSB4 - Nabbit MKU.jpg

SSB4 - Size Mii Up.jpg
Pic of the day. Some of the physical characteristics of Miis get carried over when you use them as Mii Fighters. The smaller ones become speed fighters and the bigger ones are more akin to power fighters. Sakurai confirms that Miis will retain their different sizes as Mii Fighters. He also confirms that Miis' stats are different based on their size, with smaller Miis being faster and bigger Miis being stronger.

SSB4 - Poppant Trophy.jpg
Pic of the day. Here's a Poppant, an enemy that appeared in the previous game in this series. Poppants will appear in Smash Run, scampering around as they drop a variety of items. Sakurai highlights the Poppant and Iridescent Glint Beetle enemies from Smash Run and gives details on them.

SSB4 - Iridescent Glint Beetle.jpg
There are other bonus characters that appear in this game, too. Here's an Iridescent Glint Beetle from the Pikmin series. Keep hitting it!! Keep hitting it for gold!!
