Hello Reader! Thanks for taking the time to read my page. You must be very bored, or looking for a way to not do homework. Well anyway here's my story.
My Story
I'm a simple, casual smasher from the west coast (the best coast :p). The first game I ever played was Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. Though primitive by today's gaming standards, I considered the game to perfect back then. I fell in love with everything about the game: the drive, the adrenaline rush, the frustration and of course, the series's trademark fast-paced gaming speed. I started playing smash when I was about 10 years old. My cousins in the east coast would always invite my family every year to come and visit. Most of our days were spent playing their GameCube in the basement. My favorite game they had was always Melee. I spent hours trying out all the characters, looking for the perfect counter to my cousin's Roy. Looking back now, I realize it was my lack of skill, not the characters, that held me back. Unfortunately I never got to hone my skills at the age as I didn't have a GameCube back then. I made up for that by buying a Wii when it came out in 2006. Like most others, I was ecstatic when Brawl was released. I was one of the 1st to get it and became addicted almost immediately. I never started playing competitively until just a few years ago. Being the Asian Nerd I am, I attended the UC COSMOS program in 2009. There I met many dedicated smashers and a person very precious to me. I received my 1st large dose of competitive smashing here. Though I didn't emerge top smasher like I hoped I would, I learned a great deal about the meta game, and my experiences there fueled me to continue playing pro. In 2010, I rediscovered Melee and found it so much more thrilling than Brawl. I quickly learned and mastered wavedashing and SHFFLing and discovered how much better my 2 favorites Marth and Falco were in Melee. I spent weeks learning the advanced game mechanics and now I definitely prefer Melee over Brawl (don't hate). I would like to test my skills in a tournament if I get the time. Today, I am a freshman in college currently attending Carnegie Mellon University. With all the pressure to keep grades up, I haven't had time to smash recently. Still smash has and will always be one of my favorite games to play. Other games I enjoy are the Pokémon series and of course Sonic games. I have played all 5 Pokémon generations and play competitively there are well. I just recently bought Sonic Generations and I am having a blast reliving my childhood. Thanks for reading and I think you should get going on that blank homework sitting on your desk right now.

Smashing Ability
Joining
When I joined this wiki, I was barely better than the average player. My claim to fame was that I had a great deal of tech skill and the ability acquire new tech skill very quickly. As such Melee was my game of choice as I could use my tech skill to overwhelm opponents rather than out-think them. I mained Marth in Melee and Falco in Brawl. In Melee I had mastered wavedashing and chain throwing as well as various other technical aspects like L canceling. I also had pocket space animals, with whom I could occasionally perform flashing things such as the waveshine infinite or short Pillars. In Brawl, I knew Falco's chain throw as well as most of its follow ups. After 1 match with Omega Tyrant, I learned how to DACUS and BDACUS. I would then learn various other aspects of Brawl, such as Momentum Canceling in addition to my already above average DI. From OT, I would also garner massive amount of matchup knowledge and tidbits on how to correct bad habits. At this time, I had very poor cerebral ability (though a bit better than the other users here at the time) and wondered why I couldn't defeat OT in brawl no matter how much tech skill I learned. I would soon better myself though.
Getting Better
I soon devoted hours to playing other users and bettering myself. I grew better than most of the users very quickly, which I attribute to my ability to master tech skill mere hours after learning the concepts. For awhile Brawl was the game I was better in as I had more practice with real, better players than just my brother Lyra who was my only real opponent in Melee. I put myself into contact with people on All Is Brawl and met notable smashers such as Zex, DEHF, KillLock, Kismet, and Salem. However there was a limit to how far tech skill got me and I soon reached a plateau I have only just now began to climb over. Finding my way into the NorCal Melee community just before I left California for college, I dropped Brawl to better myself in the game I always considered my favorite smash game.
Melee
I met a smasher named Ahmad who introduced me into the NorCal community. He was better than any Melee player I ever faced before. His Fox completely overwhelmed me; I could barely take a stock off it. The few stocks I took though I took in very flashy ways; I did many flashy Ken combos, even a few that went across the entire stage. Ahmad taught me even more technical aspects of Melee, most notably minute DI adjustment and Out of Shield Options. Ahmad brought me to NorCal Facebook where I learned a great deal of even more matchup knowledge and for the first time ever, more stuff on cerebral play. I befriended local legends such as the NorCal Marth champion PewPewU and the most electrifying man in NorCal, Scar. They continue to coach me today as I enter tournaments here in West PA/Midwest.
Here and Now
I continue my passion for Smash here at CMU. Work as a CS major is tough, and I don't smash too often, but I do get my fair share of Melee here and there. I smash with my best friend Pepe (real name Joseph) as well as other good people, Green Ranger, Laudandus, Aryeh, Scott, Nikolai, VI, Yudi, and Brett. So far at CMU I have gone to 2 tournaments: CMU Smash Extravaganza Part Trois and Carroll Fest 3. At the former, I met a fellow NorCal Luigi Smasher named GroovyGreenHat who I teamed with in doubles. I got trashed in singles but one of my cool stunts I did in friendlies managed to end up in a combo video as seen here. At Carroll Fest 3, I met many actual professional smashers, most notably m2k, Cactuar, Juggleguy, and Hanky Panky. While I did not make it out of pools (then again I was put into a death pool with many ranked players), I played the notables pros in countless friendlies; I reached the current highlight of my Melee carrier there taking 2 stocks off Mew2King's Marth in Marth dittos. I also met talented brawl players Xzax, Vex, and M@V. I briefly picked up Brawl again, but I do not find the game enjoyable anymore as I find the brawl counterparts of my Melee inferior and frustrating to adapt to.
I have definitely learned alot my first semester of college and I'm sure I will continue to get better. I have not yet fully reached Semi-Professional Level yet, but I'm very close to it. To be continued...
My Mains and Others
Melee Marth has always been my favorite character. He is definitely the character I have invested the most hours in and the results are definitely evident in friendlies I play. I have mastered every aspect of Marth's mobility and wavedash options. My strengths lie in getting combos down, space animal chain throws, throw tech chasing, and edgeguarding. However, my Marth is nowhere near perfect as my spacing is merely good, not excellent. I'm also bad at escaping pressure. My best matchup is, naturally after fighting my brother for years, Captain Falcon, whereas my worst is Sheik. When I do get better, I will probably learn to beat Sheik with Marth, but for now I have picked up Falco as a co-main to beat Sheik as well as to beat other Marths (the Marth ditto is also very hard for me). I very well could learn to play Fox as I'm pretty competent in Falco Tech Skill, but I have to think about the faster button inputs as they are not completely muscle memory yet. As a result, I doubt I could do well with Fox in tournament where mindgames need to be on point. I also play competent Peach and a competent Jigglypuff, who I use to pub-stomp casuals and improve my reading ability; Down smash/rest those roll-happy noobs.

Personality
I consider my self to be a very mild mannered and soft spoken person, though I can be highly opinionated if amply provoked. I am a very logical and methodical person as well. I am an avid bibliophile and when I am not smashing, I read many books, society deems a work of art. My favorite books are The Catcher in the Rye, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Othello, and Goethe's Faust. Though I attend a very religious school, I am an atheist. I find the concept of a God logically questionable, and see no pragmatic reason to put blind faith into an all powerful imaginary friend. Recently after reading C.S. Lewis though, I have acknowledged that religion has some logical credibility to it and should not be eschewed immediately. Despite of all of that however, I have a high degree of respect for religious people. They have a tremendous amount of willpower and their high moral standards are simply inspiring.
I was born into an Asian family living in Silicon Valley. As such, I was raised with high standards and pushed to be the best I could possibly be. I started learning math when I was born; I had to master addition, subtraction and my times tables before I started the Alphabet. The first 6 letters I learned were "A B C P H D." As you would guess, I was pushed to excel in all of my classes and do the most outrageous extracurricular activities. Asian parents don't seem to understand the majority of the Asian-American youth are not super athletic African-Americans, and my parents were no different. I did not excel at any sports and pretty much hated all of them when I was younger. At the same time though, I was usually the top student in my elementary classes, and was a pretty good piano player back then. Today in high school, I retain pretty much every Asian student trait I was raised to have. I still excel in all my classes and take every AP class I can, however I now enjoy exercising regularly, and have developed a passion for engineering topics. I like to work with circuitry and have a good amount of programming knowledge too.
