Article on Wikipedia Tails (Sonic the Hedgehog)

Miles Prower (マイルス・パウアー, Miles Prower), better known by his nickname Tails (テイルス, Tails), is a character from the Sonic series.

Origin

Tails first appeared in the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear, in which Tails has been kidnapped by Dr. Eggman and must be rescued by Sonic. He made his proper playable debut in the 16-bit version, and since then has become one of the main characters of the Sonic series. He is Sonic's most trusted sidekick and has the ability to fly with his two tails, hence his nickname. Despite his young age, he is a mechanical genius, matching smarts with Dr. Eggman himself, having created various revisions and remodels to the Tornado, a plane originally made by Sonic. He looks up to Sonic as a brother figure and has appeared in many games, including three of his own: Tails Adventure, an exploration-based platformer with RPG elements and a slow-paced style of gameplay compared to the majority of the Sonic franchise; Tails and the Music Maker, an edutainment game for the Sega Pico designed to teach young children about musical instruments; and Tails' Skypatrol, an originally Japan-exclusive auto-scrolling game with an original cast of characters.

A friendly fox with two tails whose true name is Miles Prower. He can fly for a limited time by spinning his tails rapidly. Originally impressed by the sight of the speedy Sonic, Tails became his sidekick, rarely leaving his side. To assist Sonic in staying one up on Dr. Eggman, Tails utilizes his knowledge of electrical engineering to create mechanical devices.

This gentle-hearted little fox used to get bullied because of his two tails. Then one day he saw Sonic on West Side Island and decided to join him on his adventures. Now he's an expert mechanic and a partner Sonic can really rely on—he's come a long way since his timid, quiet beginnings!

The Tails Mii Gunner costume from the previous game was not in the base game, but was re-added as DLC on April 17th, 2019.

Spirit

Tails also appears as a spirit. In his Spirit Battle, the player must defeat a Yellow Fox on Windy Hill Zone. Fox comes equipped with a Rocket Belt and Ray Gun (referencing Tails' ability to fly and his Mii Gunner outfit), the gravity of the stage is reduced, and the Knuckles assist trophy will be hostile towards the player.
