—Introduction Tagline

Byleth is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as Challenger Pack 5. He is the only representative from Nintendo in the Fighter's Pass and is classified as fighter #75. He, along with his female counterpart, were officially announced on January, 16th, 2020 as the final downloadable character for the first Fighter's Pass. They will release on January 28th, 2020.

Zach Aguilar and Yūsuke Kobayashi reprise their roles as Male Byleth, while Jeannie Tirado and Shizuka Ito reprise their role as Female Byleth.

Attributes

  • Like most other swordfighters, Byleth is designed to be a "distance demon". Thier average reach is long due to his weapons.
    • To compensate for this, Byleth's mobility is low (slightly faster than Robin) and his grabs have short reach.
  • Byleth's main weapon is the Sword of the Creator, though he also uses Heroes' Relics throughout his moveset:
  • Like Robin and Corrin, Byleth has a female variation as alternate costumes.

Moveset

  • The Sword of the Creator is utilized in his basic attacks and upward-inputted moves.
    • Neutral attack - a knifehand strike, followed by a roundhouse kicked, followed by a flurry attack with the whip sword.
    • Dash attack - an inward swipe while sliding forward.
    • Forward tilt - an elegant downward strike.
    • Up tilt - swings his sword in an arc upwards and outwards over his head.
    • Down tilt - a low swipe with the whip sword.
    • Up smash - swings the whip sword upward, hitting multiple times.
    • Up air - swings the whip sword upward, hitting multiple times.
    • His up special has him fling the whip sword upwards, acting as a tether recovery. If it connects with an opponent, Byleth reels them in and bounces off them. At higher percents, this bounce will meteor smash. Functions similarly to Joker's Grappling Hook.
