Her basic move set is the same as Peach's, but this princess has her own unique personality. She's known for being upbeat, energetic, and a bit of a tomboy.

Daisy (デイジー, Daisy) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. She was revealed as a newcomer alongside Inkling and Ridley from Nintendo's 2018 E3 press conference, on June 12th, 2018. She is an Echo Fighter of Peach. Deanna Mustard's portrayals of Daisy in the Mario games were repurposed for Ultimate.

Differences from Peach

An icon used in notice templates. NOTE: SmashWiki is not speculative. Please refrain from adding detailed data values derived from pre-release gameplay footage, such as the E3 demo. Such data (damage values, launch trajectories, frame data, etc.) are subject to change before the official release.

Aesthetics

  • Change As with all echo fighters, Daisy has different aesthetic animations, such as her taunts, victory poses, and entrance animation.
  • Change Daisy has a more energetic idle stance, with her arms held up by her side.
  • Change Daisy uses a Blue Toad instead of a red one for her counter and throws.
  • Change Daisy has flower and petal effects for her attacks, including her dash attack and back aerial, instead of hearts.
  • Change Daisy has different, more cheerful facial expressions for many attacks and action.
  • Change Daisy has a different running animation similar to Super Mario Party.
  • Change Daisy's Final Smash is similar to Peach's Final Smash, except that it summons edible daisies instead of peaches, and is themed around herself.
  • Change Daisy is visibly (but only slightly) shorter than Peach. Whether this has any impact on her hitboxes compared to Peach is currently unknown.

Role in World of Light

Daisy was absent in the World of Light trailer, though she presumably became a spirit alongside the rest of the galaxy (sans Kirby) when Galeem unleashed its beams of light.

Trivia

  • Despite being her Echo, a number of Peach's abilities and tools in the moveset deviate from Daisy's in regards to her appearances in the Mario franchise, as they are normally unique to Peach.
    • The Toad move used for their neutral special, as well as the Toads used for their grabs and throws, are unusual for Daisy. Daisy has little affiliation with Toads outside of her friendship with Peach. Her country, Sarasaland, is also uninhabited by Toads.
      • In Mario Super Sluggers, during the game's story mode, a Red Toad guards Daisy after Bowser Jr. turned her into a stone statue. This can be attributed to her friendship with Peach, as she was a member of Peach's baseball team at the time, and she shared no "Chemistry" with any Toads in the game.
      • In Mario Strikers Charged, her Toad sidekick is a Blue Toad like in Ultimate. Wario and Waluigi also have Blue Toads for their Toad sidekicks, however, and she is accompanied by a Yellow Toad for her alternate colors.
    • The frying pan used in their forward smash is a direct reference to the one Peach first used in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Peach has used a frying pan in other games, as well; and it can be correlated to her baking abilities. Daisy has no previous affiliation with the item, however.
    • Their floating ability originates from Peach's appearance in Super Mario Bros. 2, and Peach has been depicted with this ability in additional Mario games, since. Daisy has been shown to have her own unique ability in this manner as of Super Mario Run, where she has an extra jump compared to the other playable characters. Additionally, Daisy did not appear in SMB2 and never floated like Peach prior to Ultimate.
      • The turnips featured in their down special move, Vegetable, are also a callback to Super Mario Bros. 2, and as such they also do not actually correlate to Daisy.
    • The Peach Parasol, their up special move, is another item normally unique or heavily associated with Peach herself in the Mario franchise.
      • The only instances of Daisy using a parasol prior to this are those in which every other playable character can, too; such as in the Mario Party 3 minigame "Parsol Plummet".
      • "Peach Parasol" is also a glider all playable characters can use on their vehicles in Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8. and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Other female characters including Daisy, Rosalina and Honey Queen do have their own colors for the glider, though.
    • Their Final Smash, the Peach Blossom, has them able to put their enemies to sleep, which is an ability Peach has used previously in Super Mario RPG in the form of "Sleepy Time"; this is another ability Daisy has not displayed previously, however.
    • Peach's moves featuring hearts are switched out with flowers for Daisy. In most appearances where Daisy's flower powers are shown, they operate differently than Peach's heart powers.
  • Daisy is the only Ultimate newcomer revealed during E3 to not be playable in the E3 demo.
    • However, she is playable in the updated November build, which features the entire base roster.
  • Two of Daisy's victory animations reference her victory celebrations in the Mario series titles Mario Golf: World Tour and Mario Tennis Aces.
  • Daisy's pose for one of her taunts matches promotional artwork of her first used for Mario Kart 7.
  • Daisy was the second newcomer announced for Ultimate. This marks only the second time a new clone character for a Smash title had been announced before the game launched, with the last time being Lucina in SSB4.
  • Daisy is the first Echo Fighter to be based on another female (being Peach), the second being Dark Samus.
  • Daisy is one of only two newcomers introduced in Ultimate to not have splash art and an introduction tagline, the other being Inkling.
    • This makes Daisy the only Echo Fighter with that distinction.
  • Daisy's pose in the group artwork for Ultimate is based upon Peach's back throw animation from SSB4.
  • Daisy was the first character to be shown on the new victory screen.
  • Daisy is the only Echo Fighter to be featured on the full version of the box art.
  • Daisy's pose in her official artwork slightly resembles a piece of artwork from Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64, only mirrored.
