Zelda (ゼルダ, Zelda) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4
Aesthetics
- Zelda is based off of her appearance in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past[1] and its sequel A Link Between Worlds.
- Zelda always faces the screen regardless of which direction she turns, as such her stance is now mirrored.
- Zelda's standing animation, idle poses and walking animations have been altered.
- Zelda is more positively expressive, boasting a cheery smile in several animations, such as her down taunt, her neutral finisher, and the charging portion of Phantom Slash.
- Up and down taunts are altered, with the former having Zelda wave a hand while forming magic and facing the screen, and the latter being a more cheerful, energetic hand wave.
- Zelda now hangs onto the ledge with one hand hand instead of two.
- All of Zelda's victory animations have been changed to reflect her more energetic personality.
Ground attacks
- Neutral attack now has an infinite and a finisher.
- Neutral attack deals much more knockback on the final hit.
- Dash attack deals more damage and knockback.
Throws/other attacks
- Zelda's grab has an altered animation.
- Zelda has a new pummel where she stomps on her opponent's shins. It is faster compared to her previous pummel.
- Zelda now swings her opponent energetically during her forward throw instead of staying stationary.
Special moves
- Zelda can now move in the air when using Nayru's Love.
- Din's Fire no longer leaves Zelda helpless when used in midair.
- Farore's Wind starts up more quickly, and preserves much more momentum if used right after a jump. She can also act sooner after teleporting.
- Phantom Slash has the armor constructing itself while the move is charging. It attacks differ depending on how long it has been charged, with four different stages. After it fully assembles, Zelda can move freely while holding the charge on the move.
- The Phantom now has four animations for each charge, with lower charges causing its incomplete body to attack instead. From lowest to highest: a quick shin kick from its arms and legs, a punch from its arms and legs, an outward sword swing from its lower torso, arms and legs, and an upward sword swing from its completed body.
- Zelda has a new Final Smash, Triforce of Wisdom, which acts as a trapping KO move. It also seems to KO the opponent instantly if they're at 100% and above, similar to Bayonetta's Final Smash.
