Ganondorf (ガノンドロフ, Ganondorf) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4
Ganondorf has gone through some dramatic changes in design from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, most notably in the aesthetic department. Ganondorf sports a remastered appearance from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and now utilizes the sword from the Spaceworld 2000 Tech Demo and Super Smash Bros. Melee in his Smash Attacks. Additionally, he is granted a slight boost in power and altered animations for many of his moves, the latter of which furthering him from Captain Falcon and making him his own character for once in the series.
Aesthetics
- Ganondorf's appearance is changed back to his original design from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, albeit with a complete graphical overhaul to his appearance. Additionally, his voice is reverted back to his original voice actor, with updated voice clips.
- Ganondorf's initial dash and running animations were altered.
Attributes
Ground attacks
- Jab attack deals 0.5% increased damage (from 10% -> 10.5%)
- Jab Attack no longer appears to have a sourspot.
- Sweetspotted dash attack deals 0.7% increased damage (from 14% -> 14.7%)
- Dash attack's animation slightly altered.
- Forward tilt deals 12.5% median damage.
- Up tilt now has a flame effect on Ganondorf's foot during the startup.
- All of Ganondorf's Smash attacks now utilize his sword, increasing the range of them substantially.
- Ganondorf's Forward Smash now deals 1.2% more damage (from 24% -> 25.2%)
- Ganondorf's Up Smash is now an overhead swing covering around his body, providing significantly more reach than his previous Up Smash.
- Ganondorf's Down Smash now lowers himself and thusly, his hurtbox shrinks.
- The first hit of Ganondorf's down smash deals 0.7% reduced damage (from 6% -> 5.3%)
- The second hit of Ganondorf's down smash deals 0.9% increased damage (from 15% -> 15.9%) and has increased knockback.
- The second hit of Ganondorf's down smash sends opponents in a lower angle.
- Ganondorf's down smash resembles Cloud's down smash.
Aerial attacks
- Neutral aerial deals 0.4% increased damage (from 7% -> 7.4%)
- Up aerial's early hit has significantly higher knockback, now KO'ing enemies around 120% mid-stage.
- Down aerial deals 0.9% increased damage (from 19% -> 19.9%)
Throws/other attacks
- Forward Throw now deals increased damage (from 13% -> 13.6%)
- Forward Throw's animation was altered.
- Edge attack deals 2.5% increased damage (from 8% -> 10.5%)
Special Moves
- Grounded Flame Choke deals 0.5% increased damage (from 12% -> 12.5%)
- Opponents released by trading attacks with Dark Dive during its grab now receive 8.4% damage.
- Grounded Wizard's Foot deals 0.7% increased damage (from 14% -> 14.7%) on the early hitbox.
- Grounded Wizard's Foot deals more damage as it travels further and deals multiple hits near the end of the move.
- Both hits of Grounded Wizard's Foot deal 18.3% damage total near the end.
- Ganondorf's Final Smash deals 12.4% more damage (from 40% -> 52.4%) and is able to KO an opponent at the edge of the stage.
Trivia
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate marks the first time in the series that Ganondorf utilizes a sword in his base moveset.
- However, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS allows him to utilize his sword, albeit as a custom move.
