The Big House 11 was a Super Smash Bros. Melee supermajor, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Super Smash Bros. Brawl superregional, and Super Smash Bros. regional held in Detroit, Michigan, from October 20th-22nd, 2023.

Tournament summary

Super Smash Bros. Melee

This is the first Big House tournament since The Big House 8 in 2018 to surpass 1,000 entrants. In addition, nine out of the ten players ranked in the top 10 on the SSBMRank Summer 2023 were in attendance (Leffen did not attend).

Junebug's final placing of 13th in Melee singles marks the highest placement for a Donkey Kong player at a North-American post-Slippi era Melee major/supermajor.

This event marks the first time Plup has not won Melee doubles at a tournament since Super Smash Con 2019, over four years prior. Teaming with Joshman, he placed 2nd after Grand Finals was reset twice by the team of Azel/Zuppy. Incidentally, Plup would get his revenge by defeating both members of the opposing team in Melee singles.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The tournament was originally tiered as a major on LumiRank 2023. However, following several notable player dropouts, most notably every top 30 player that had registered previously aside from Onin -- Tweek, Riddles, Zomba, Kurama, and Dabuz -- the tournament fell down to B+ tier, marking the first Big House tournament that was not a major event for the most recent Smash game.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

This became the 2nd largest Brawl tournament of the year, behind Super Smash Con 2023. Notably, it featured 5 out of the top 10 players on the SSBBRank 2020-2022. Cody would go on to win the tournament, making this his 2nd national win of 2023. Notably, Chia would defeat Zenan and Gunnermaniac to place 3rd, and Strawberrow, who hadn't competed offline since BTIKC in 2018, would also defeat Zenan and Gunnermaniac, to place 4th.

Trivia

  • Cody Schwab's run on route to winning Melee singles drew some comparisons on social media to Sparg0's Kagaribi 10 Ultimate singles run:
    • Both players were initially upset by a Samus player in bracket (Morsecode762 and Yaura, respectively).
    • Both players went on an 11-set loser's bracket winstreak to win the tournament.
  • Before the tournament began, Egg$ challenged Mot$ to a so-called “money match”, where, if they played in bracket, the loser would permanently remove the “$” from their tag and the winner would add it to their own, to which Mot$ accepted.[6] Egg$ would ultimately defeat Mot$ 3-0 in Round 2 pools, making their tags change to Egg$$ and Mot respectively.
    • This change lasted until January 1, 2024, where both players mutually agreed to revert back to their original tags.
