The Panda Cup Finale would have been the Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate finale for the Panda Cup. It was planned to be held in Los Angeles, California on December 16th-18th, 2022, but was postponed on December 4th, and later confirmed to be cancelled on November 23rd, 2023.[1][2] The 28 players of each game who qualified through the circuit would have participated in the tournament. A Last Chance Qualifier for each game was meant to be held the day before the finale (formerly planned for December 15th) with the Top 4 players qualifying,[3] bringing the total to 32 players for each game. All finalists will have complimentary travel and housing for the event.[4] The tournament was planned to have the ninth-largest singles pot for a Melee tournament and tied for the seventh-largest singles pot for an Ultimate tournament at the formerly planned dates.

Several players dropped out of both the finale and the Last Chance Qualifier due to a Panda Cup boycott. Some of the players would have been going to Scuffed World Tour hosted by Ludwig on the same weekend instead. In addition, the tournament was going to not count for OrionRank 2022,[5] and Panda Cup Finale and all future events hosted by Panda will be blacklisted from ΩRank.[6]

FormatEdit

Originally, the Last Chance Qualifier would be played on December 15th the Los Angeles Convention Center. Phase 1 of the finale was to take place on December 16th-17th up until the Top 8, also at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Top 8 would be played to completion on December 18th at The Novo.
