Villager (むらびと, Murabito) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, officially confirmed on June 12th, 2018.
Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4
Aesthetics
- As with all veterans returning from SSB4, Villager's model features a more subdued color scheme. His clothing features subtle detailing.
- The 7th Villager skin now has dark skin and has red eyes instead of brown.
- Clothing such as Villager's shorts have more movement while fighting.
- Villager now faces more towards the screen like many other characters. Several animations, particularly those relating to walking and dashing, have been altered as a result.
- While Villager has a pocketed item, the item will appear in a display above the damage meter.
- Villager now blinks during his clapping animation on the results screen.
Attributes
- Like all characters, Villager's jumpsquat animation now only takes three frames to complete.
Ground attacks
- Villager now has a neutral infinite and a finisher, a straight jab.
- Forward smash's bowling ball now lingers for a moment after landing on the ground.
- Up tilt has less range.
- Down tilt now has a small patch of dirt underneath the weed before Villager pulls it from the ground.
Aerial attacks
- All aerials have reduced landing lag.
- Neutral aerial does less damage.
- Forward and back aerials' pellets now arc downwards.
- Forward and back aerials also have higher base knockback.
- Down aerial will now always meteor smash, regardless of how many turnips are used, greatly increasing its reliability.
- Down aerial has more startup lag.
Throws/other attacks
- Villager now has a shocked expression when he misses with his grab.
- Grab has significantly reduced ending lag.
- Grab can now pocket items.
- Edge attack has greater range.
Special Moves
- After catching a projectile with Pocket, Villager can act faster.
- If Villager is hit out of Balloon Trip and does not touch the ground, he can only use the move again with one balloon instead of two, slowing the move's ascent and making Villager more vulnerable to edgeguarding.
- Timber now bounces once on the ground before disappearing.
- Timber deals more damage.
- Just like down tilt, Timber now has a patch of dirt underneath the sapling in the move's first stage.
- Dream Home now has the house rotate while Tom Nook, Timmy and Tommy build it. Tom Nook also throws furniture into the building more rapidly.

Trivia
- Villager is the only SSB4 newcomer to appear on the game's boxart.
- In the E3 demo of the game, Villager's portrait, strangely, used his in-game model as opposed to the render made for him in the game. This was also the case with Link, Mario and Pikachu. This has since been fixed.
