- Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U are officially announced for EVO 2016.

- At GENESIS 3, Armada, Mango, and Hungrybox take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Melee singles; ZeRo, Dabuz, and Ranai take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles; and wario, SuPeRbOoMfAn, and wangera take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Smash 64 singles. Mew2King & Armada, Komorikiri & Ranai, and JaimeHR & SuPeRbOoMfAn win Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Smash 64 doubles, respectively.

- At Dismantle 2, Nairo, Dabuz, and Ally respectively take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U singles, and Dabuz & Ally win Super Smash Bros. for Wii U doubles. Amida and Redd respectively win Smash 64 and Melee singles, Ally wins both Brawl and Project M singles, and Redd & ORLY, Nairo & MVD, and Sago & Vro respectively win Melee, Brawl, and Project M doubles.

- In the final video presentation, newcomers Corrin and Bayonetta are confirmed as the last downloadable content characters for Super Smash Bros. 4, both scheduled to release in February 2016. Bayonetta will come with a new stage, the Umbra Clock Tower, while Corrin will come with new songs for the existing Fire Emblem stages in the Wii U version and additional trophies in the 3DS version. Cloud, Midgar, and the Chocobo Mii Fighter hat are confirmed to be released a few hours following the direct, alongside a Mii Fighter costume based on Geno. A number of other Mii Fighter costumes (including Ashley, Takamaru, and Miles "Tails" Prower) are scheduled for release with Corrin and Bayonetta. Roy, Ryu, and Famicom R.O.B. amiibo are scheduled for release in North America on March 18th, while amiibo for Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta are confirmed to be in production with an unstated release date.
