Flower
Flower, known as RipStickFlower in Brawl and SSB4's files, is a status condition and an attack effect that forms a flower on a character's head. A fighter afflicted by the flower condition takes damage over time (1% every 21 frames in Smash 4), until the are freed from the condition. The flower becomes bigger if an opponent already flowered is hit with a flowering attack again.
The flower will eventually fall off, but can be removed more quickly by button mashing. In SSB4, the maximum number of frames that the flower will stay on a fighter's head for is dependent on how much damage the flowering attack dealt. This is equal to damage dealt x 40.5
, which damage-wise is equivalent to a little under double the damage dealt by the attack. In Ultimate, moving around causes the flower condition to fade sooner.
The flower effect is primarily caused by the Lip's Stick, but can also be caused by several other means. The Poké Ball Pokémon Togepi can inflict the flower status by using Leech Seed, one of five possible moves for it to use. Starting in Brawl, Jigglypuff's Rest also inflicts the flower condition. Starting in Brawl, Flower is one of the rules that can be set in Special Smash, which causes all fighters to permanently have flowers on their heads.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Alloys are immune to flowering.
In Ultimate, the flower's appearance was changed so that it resembles the pink flowers seen on the title screen of Panel de Pon.
