Ike (SSBU)

Ike is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was officially confirmed on June 12th, 2018. Ike is now voiced by Greg Chun instead of Jason Adkins, with the former reprising the role from Fire Emblem Heroes.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

Ike uses his design Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance as his default costume, like in Brawl. His design from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, which was his default design in SSB4, is now his alternate costume.

Aesthetics

  • Change Ike has a new idle animation, which is more similar to his idle stance in Path of Radiance.
  • Change Ike has new voice clips in the English and Japanese versions.
  • Change Ike's voice changes depending on the costume. In the Japanese version, Ike's voice is deeper and more masculine in his Radiant Dawn costume, while being slightly deeper in the English version.

Aerial moves

  • Change Up aerial is now a wide upward swing above Ike's head, similar to the rest of the Fire Emblem cast. Compared his previous up aerial, it has a wider arc and faster startup, but does not last as long.

Special moves

  • Buff Eruption now produces multiple pillars of flames at high enough levels of charge.
  • Change Counter now gives off flaming visuals from Ragnell after Ike performs a successful counterattack.
  • Change Great Aether is significantly flashier, with a dark blue blackdrop alongside flaming visuals. Before the final hit, the victim flashes with blue light, and the landing eruption now appears significantly more cartoony, with less smoke effects.
