Jigglypuff (SSB4)

Jigglypuff is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4, first confirmed by a leaker's Twitch stream, was later leaked again in an official Super Smash Bros. for Wii U screenshot on the official website, was shown several times throughout the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Nintendo Direct, shown in some pictures of the day, and was finally officially confirmed on November 5, 2014. It is also featured in the opening movie. It retains Puff Up as its Final Smash. Its model has been updated to match recent appearances, notably Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. It is, like most other characters, more expressive than in previous iterations. It has brighter, more cyan colored eyes, which are also much smaller than in previous iterations and farther apart from each other, and a wider, higher-positioned mouth.

How to unlock

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

Changes from Brawl

Jigglypuff has been buffed from Brawl, although not quite back to its strength from Melee. Generally the utility and speed of its attacks had improved while also having reduced damage.

  • Buff Jigglypuff can crouch way faster after a shield and and has the lowest crouch making Jigglypuff able to dodge a lot of attacks giving Jigglypuff the ablility to Jump, Down Special into the opponent right after. (Doesn't work well VS. other short characters because their attacks are lower due to their height).
  • Buff Neutral attack and up tilt have been sped up.
  • Buff Up tilt, forward tilt, down throw and up throw do 1% more damage.
  • Buff Neutral air, back aerial, up smash and back throw deal 1% more damage and have more knockback.
  • Buff Forward throw deals 1% more damage and has slightly shorter endlag.
  • Buff Dash grab has less ending lag.
  • Buff Rest is significantly stronger than in Brawl, though not quite back to its Melee power. Due to the changes in hitstun mechanics, Jigglypuff can now perform true combos into Rest, greatly improving its utility once again. Rest also deals more damage.
    • Buff It also seems to have a larger hitbox, improving its utility even more.
  • Buff Dash attack has less ending lag and is stronger.
  • Buff Up air has more reach.
  • Buff Back aerial is drastically more powerful to the point where it can reliably KO under 120%.
    • Nerf Because of this, it loses some of its Wall of pain ability.
  • Buff Pound deals more shield damage.
    • Nerf Pound has lost some of its momentum, losing some of its horizontal recovery.
  • Nerf Forward smash, forward air, and down air deal less damage.
  • Nerf Rollout deals much less damage and knockback.
  • Change Now uses its other arm to pummel, instead of its hair curl.
  • Buff Puff Up now makes Jigglypuff grow so much, it almost envelops the whole stage.
    • Change It also now makes the stage shake.
    • Change Jigglypuff's eyes now continue to glow yellow from the Final Smash effect when performing Puff Up.
  • Change Jigglypuff's mouth is now closed and smiling, instead of being open as in previous versions,

Trophies

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS trophy descriptions

Jigglypuff
This Normal/Fairy-type Pokémon is best known for its soothing singing, which can put foes to sleep. In Smash Bros., it fights best in the air and can even jump six times in a row. The downside, though, is that Jigglypuff's so light, most opponents could launch it in their sleep!
Jigglypuff (Alt.)
Jigglypuff's down special Rest sends this Pokémon into a deep sleep that damages and launches any foe it's touching upon napping. They'll even take damage after being hit! It's a pretty challenging move to land, though, and it leaves Jigglypuff wide open to revenge. Be careful when you use it.
