O_O; Lol

So I was just about to paste my rewrite of the Subspace Emissary storyline when I noticed that you had apparently made a complete rewrite of it yourself between when I started my rewrite two days ago and when I finished just now. (That's just an EPIC coincidence.) I know this pretty much means your rewrite was more-or-less for nothing when I put in my version, but maybe you'd like to look over my much longer version now and comment. ;D Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 21:50, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey there! I was wondering if i could introduce you to my friend, pwnage- I - I mean my friend, happyness. So if you have a friendcode that would sound cool... (Hint) (Hint)

I hope u dont mind...

I used ur Match up icons. Is that ok? Thx! Smasher2008-09 (talk) 04:50, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, that's fine. Just don't pretend that you made them and you can use them however you like. Toomai Glittershine The Table Designer 12:34, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Don't worry! I put those icons to good use! Smasher2008-09May the Brawl...be with you... 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Nice work! Your contributions reflect the kind of awesome work we SmashWikidians like to see!
*jaw drops* You, Toomai, are absolutely amazing for your dedication to this wiki as shown on character matchups and elsewhere. Keep up the fantastic work! Miles (talk) 22:53, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Research projects

From what I've seen of your (exemplary) work, it seems you like to look into more complex parts of the game by testing the mechanisms involved, etc. I was wondering if you could look into two unanswered questions I had (here and here). Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Miles (talk) 20:18, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Psst. I don't think guns do weapon damage. Stuff like Blaster is Energy, etc. Miles (talk) 19:46, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

If you have time... Miles (talk) 02:27, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Is it so wrong?

Hey Toomai I was wondering was it a bad thing to post that much information for a game? And I was wondering if I could fight you because I don't really know anyone near my skill level either. Tell me, is it so wrong?Stridentgear 2:11, May 17, 2009 (UTC)

Well, I don't know whether it's technically "wrong". But the SmashWiki is about the Smash Bros. series. Yes, there should be pages about games that had content borrowed. That said, if that's the only importance a game has to the Smash Bros. series, we don't need a lot of info on the stuff that has no effect on it. Think of it this way: if a non-Smash Bros. article is longer than an article on a similar subject from the Smash Bros. series (such as a Smash Bros. game and another game), it's probably too big. Toomai Glittershine The Table Designer 13:29, 17 May 2009 (UTC)

sig

Hi Toomai. Your sig is currently in violation of SW:SIGN because it is transcluded (meaning you sign with {{whatever}}). You can substitute it instead (by typing {{subst:whatever}}), unless the code is too long to fit in the signature box in preferences, in which case you would need to change it.

Thanks, --Shadowcrest 04:45, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Drat. Ah well, it wasn't working like I wanted it to anyway. Toomai Glittershine The Stats Guy cntrbs 13:02, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Character head icons

From what I've seen, Brawl has variant versions of the head icons for every palette swap of a character as well. They can be seen in the chart after a match showing who KO'd who and how many times (shown by repeated icons). Should we include these somewhere? I'm asking you since you seem to be our icon master. Miles (talk) 20:48, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

There is one icon for each costume (there has been in all three games). But I see no reason to have them; what could they be used for? (Not to mention I don't have them; the only ones I got were from Smashboards.) Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png eXemplary Logic cntrbs 21:10, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I could make the ones from SSB very easily if you want, but I don't see why it's necessary. PenguinofDeath 21:43, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
I was just thinking for the sake of completeness, just like the costume galleries themselves. Miles (talk) 19:46, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

I have a question...where did you find all the SSBM Character head icons? Please answer me!!

Smasher2008-09May the Brawl...be with you... 11:13 26 June 2009 (UTC)

First: Your sig is faulty; you have <small> instead of </small>. You have to close tags in the reverse order they were opened.
As for the icons...I found them on Smashboards. I basically opened up the "select a smiley" dialog and the head icons, along with various other images, were there. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy cntrbs 19:01, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

I have found someone who has ripped all the character head icons from Brawl. (He also has the selection screen images, which we already have except for Random.) If you guys are still interested, you can probably ask him for permission to use them. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy cntrbs 11:47, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello

I actually tried to write something new interesting thing about meteors, but I didn't have enough time as it was long and I accidentally saved that about Ganondorf. Firewario (talk) 23:04, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Character Matchups

I know how much you like the matchups table, so I thought you might like to know that the current version is apparently out of date. Seeing as you made the table, you're probably the best person to ask to edit it. Have fun. PenguinofDeath 22:37, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I was kinda hoping that people would edit it as the changes were made, but whatever. I will get right on that tomorrow. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy cntrbs 22:41, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

hey

How did you make your images? Paper Bowser (talk) 16:58, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, most of my stuff is done in Inkscape, while the image in my sig was done in Blender. If you want any more than that, you'll have to be more specific. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png eXemplary Logic cntrbs 20:03, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Barnstar.png

Thanks

Good work on fixing the new templates! u can has barnstar now. The question now is how do we fit this into the Smasher template? Should we make it an integral part of the template, or should we leave it out? Some Smasher articles don't have their birth date, just the year they were born, which would mean that the template wouldn't work (or we'd have to make up their birthday). I think it'd be easier to introduce a new line on the Smasher template with the DoB template, but keep the old Birth Date line for Smasher articles without a full birth date. What do you think? PenguinofDeath 14:23, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Easy fix, stick it in there and make it not show up unless the field is like.. Opened. Warwizzles 14:27, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

There are two things we can do.

1. Once I get a large enough span of time, I could edit the Smasherbeta template to do the following:
  • If the "old" birth date field is used, then use what's in there.
  • Otherwise:
    • Use the data in the birth day, birth month, and birth year fields (which currently don't exist).
      • If any of birth day, birth month, or birth year is missing, display a bunch of ?s (such as January 23 ????).
      • If all three are present, calculate and display age.
2. Note in the template to use the DoB template in the birth date field if you want your age to be updated.

Oh, and I'm not the first barnstar-ian (as you noted in your edit summary). You and ClonedPickle came first. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy cntrbs 16:26, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I forgot that ClonedPickle and I had already got them. I would say go for Option 1, because it requires the input of fewer users (so it's more likely to be done in an organised manner) and it would look really good. I knew you'd have good ideas... :D PenguinofDeath 16:39, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Smasher Page?

How'd you make a smasher page, cause you deleted it when it was a user page. I would appreciate it if you told me how to make a smasher page, and catagorise it. Thanks. The Hobster (talk) 20:47, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Smasher pages are pages about notable players of Smash Bros.; therefore I don't think you'd qualify (read SW:NOTE for the requirements). You're welcome to treat your user page as a smasher page, but it can't be categorized as such. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Table Designer 22:48, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
and what if I become a smasher of some note, then can I make my own page? The Hobster (talk) 07:07, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

done something better than you

You say you've done hard SSE without stickers 100%.

I did very hard. I've also done intense but not 100%.

Also how are your matchup icons meant to work? The Hobster (talk) 07:15, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

The matchup icons were designed for the character matchups article, but anyone can use them for similar purposes (that is, showing the percentages of things such as matchups). Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Table Designer 00:25, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I have done Very Hard with no stickers (not to show off). Honestly, I's be dead pretty quickly if I did Intense/No Stickers in SSE. 170.185.51.19 16:47, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

:3

Could you perhaps work the magic you did on the Tier List and put it into the weight article? :3 Paper Bowser (talk) 06:58, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

A weight list is different than a tier list. In a tier list, only the order is important. Therefore, one can make it look any degree of cool as long as the order is obvious. However, in a weight list, it's the numbers of each character that are important. Doing what I did to the tier list doesn't make sense in my opinion.
  1. The list has to stay in a purely-vertical format, as the values have to match up.
  2. Using images instead of text isn't feasible for the numbers, and it generally looks better to see "Bowser: 1.111" as opposed to "File:Icon-bowser.gif: 1.111".
  3. Adding colours would certainly make things look interesting, but sorting one column would make the other columns look weird.
I think I'll have a look at it, but I wouldn't expect to change anything. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Table Designer 12:44, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

I Beseech Thee, O Mighty Image Maker

Can you make this image like the .png files that you upload? It doesn't have the chequered background on the preview page (in other words, it's not actually transparent) and I don't know why... Thanks in advance, PenguinofDeath 11:32, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

There are two primary reasons why transparency may be lost.
  • Some programs don't support it, and neither do certain formats. If you saved it in Paint or originally had it as a .jpeg or something, there's your problem.
  • It could be how you captured the image. As in, how you acquired it in the first place.
In any case, I fixed it. Just opened the Gimp (it's like a free Photoshop), added an alpha channel, and selected the background and deleted it. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Table Designer 21:15, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
I downloaded Gimp so that I don't have to pester you every time I want to make a .png file. I might just need to pester you about how to use it. :D Thanks for the fix, PenguinofDeath 22:05, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of Bowser Suicide

Toomai, I noticed that you listed Bowser suicide as a candidate for deletion. You should look at the Deletion Policy, you forgot to put the reason for deletion on the talk page for it. Just a heads up. I'm gonna list it for speedy deletion anyways so an admin can quickly get rid of it. randomchupunch99 (talk) 02:09, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

There was concensus a while ago (here) that the talk page confirmation stipulation was no longer necessary. Not sure why SW:DELETE hasn't gotten changed yet. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png eXemplary Logic 11:32, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I see. I only started off as a user on SmashWiki a few days ago, and so I didn't see that discussion, but I did see the old deletion policy. Sorry about this. I'll edit the Deletion Policy and change the steps for nomination. randomchupunch99 (talk) 13:02, September 28, 2009 (UTC)

Yes.

Great place for Matchup tables.

You're awesome. :D Miles (talk) 01:51, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

I hate to disagree, but I think that's a terrible place for the matchup tables to go - on most character pages, the infobox will get in the way of the table, so there'll be a huge gap between the Matchups section header and the table itself. Try lower down on the page, away from other tables, templates and pictures. I do agree with Miles on the awesomeness front, though - great job on the coding. PenguinofDeath 14:55, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
I can't take full credit on the coding front (see here). As for location of matchups - I figured that after Attributes would be a good place since it's generally a big enough text block that it'll outrun the character infobox, and I thought it should be higher on the page rather than lower. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy 15:05, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
Key word in that sentence: "generally" - when it's not a big enough text block, it looks really badly done and out of place (and I'm fairly certain that it doesn't generally outrun the infobox). I think that such a long template shouldn't go so high up on the page. I'm not sure where it should go, but lower would be better. Also, it doesn't really matter that you didn't do all of the coding - you made the matchups table what it is today, and I doubt anyone else would have had the idea to split it up into individual rows in the first place, let alone actually tried to code it. PenguinofDeath 15:42, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

A Little Help With A Project

Seeing how great you are, (I've seen your work too, along with other people's, such as PenguinofDeath and the like) I'd like to ask a question. The SSBB Trophy List is an absolute mess: it needs more trophies listed, new images that are standardized (a majority of them aren't snapshots from Brawl's own snapshot-taker, so other people can't actually help out), and the descriptions need to be checked over. I do have most of the trophies, and there is a Brawl Trophy List from the DOJO!!! (Brawl's official website), but I don't have all of the trophies, and cleaning up the whole thing by myself is going to take centuries. Could you see if you could help out here? Thanks, RAN1domchupunch!!99 04:32, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

Errr... why was my name mentioned? For some strange reason I feel flattered, but I don't know why... PenguinofDeath 14:55, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
I don't know about this one. I'll give it a look, but I can't promise squat. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png eXemplary Logic 15:05, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

Buttons and template

So I made this a while ago:

...and thought it might be nice if it could be upgraded to use your button images in some way. Any thoughts? Miles (talk) 20:51, October 10, 2009 (UTC)

I was planning to replace the test links with image links (such as File:A Button(N64).png). But I wasn't going to do so until all the buttons were done. Now that I've been reminded of it, I can probably have it done in a few days. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Table Designer 22:31, October 10, 2009 (UTC)

Tireless_Contributor_Barnstar.gif

There's not enough barnstars in the world of wikis for you. :D Miles (talk) 02:09, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

Miles removed the "extra dots". I know why they were put there (to separate the buttons available if using only the Wii Remote and the extra buttons that are available if using the Nunchuk as well) but I see where he's coming from. Seeing as the row is called "Wii Remote (and Nunchuk)" maybe you could put the Nunchuk buttons in brackets, or you could split up the row into "Wii Remote" and "Nunchuk". Aside from that one tiny possible source of confusion, the template's simply amazing. PenguinofDeath 15:03, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

I tried brackets, but they looked pretty wimpy and really not good at all (mostly since the images were bigger than them), and I don't think it's worth splitting the row up. I also tried extra spacing instead of extra dots, but it didn't actually look like anything changed. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png eXemplary Logic 17:20, October 15, 2009 (UTC)
Thinking about it, in order to split up the "Wii Remote (and Nunchuk)" row into "Wii Remote" and "Nunchuk" while keeping them on the same line, you'd have to use the raw Navbox coding, wouldn't you? If so, forget about it - the dots may confuse some people, but they're probably the best/easiest way of doing it (in which case someone should revert Miles' edit). PenguinofDeath 18:28, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

So I read Smashing Saga

And liked it a lot. Can haz continuing? Miles (talk) 22:01, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

No duh. Don't expect any kind of predictable updates, but this fanfic cannot stop until (at least) after the Subspace Emissary. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy 23:17, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

Kinda said the wrong thing. I meant are we the ones updating the results a lot?--Megatron1 (talk) 15:10, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

SA results are not supposed to be "updated" until the round is over. People vote, then when the next round begins, the votes are tallied and the result is finalized. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy 15:24, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

So when's the next round coming up. I'm kind of new to the whole concept of wikias and can sometimes make some ******* major mistakes.--Megatron1 (talk) 22:50, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

When I put it up. Please don't bug me about it in the future, unless it's been like two months or something. (Oh, and don't consider yourself an "operator" of Smash Arena - one user handling it is enough, to be honest, and you need to get more experience wiki-ing before you consider it.) Question

Good job with the Melee matchups and all, but shouldn't it be moved to a template as the SSBB one was, so we can put the matchups on the SSBM character's articles? The same for the SSB Matchup table? HavocReaper48 15:15, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Alright, here're a few tips:
  1. Spelling and grammar. You come across as a mess because of your lack of it. It's not as important on talk pages, but actual pages should have proper capitalization and stuff.
  2. Know the rules.
  3. I've got a few other tips here.
  4. Always sign your comments on talk pages by adding ~~~~ to the end of them; don't type out your username. (But never sign edits to actual articles.)

RE: Your welcomes

Ah, okay. The grammar in the default welcome template wasn't to my liking, so I tweaked it for my own use. Guess I'll have to use it now anyway. ;) User:Tienjt0/Sig 01:17, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

Uh.. why are we forcing someone to use a specific template to welcome people? :/ Shadowcrest 03:12, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
I just don't think it's necessary to have to near-identical templates, one used by most users, the other used by a single one. If a personal welcome template was substantially different then the "public" one, then maybe, but that would be getting into "private template" territory. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Table Designer 13:57, April 6, 2010 (UTC)
I have a private userbox template because I don't understand SmashWiki's. As long as it doesn't turn into wikisquatting (which a single page clearly isn't) I don't see the point in restricting him. Shadowcrest 16:10, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

I would like to thank you for returning the information about how the hothead works back on the hothead page. You did a good job at making the information simpler. I would also like to thank you for revising the page about the "Super Death Jump". I have been reading articles on Smash Wiki for years but I just joined a month ago and I just started making edits this week. So as I can see, you can't credit yourself with adding information about discoveries you made that weren't on the wiki before? Omega Tyrant 21:49, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

That's correct, you want to avoid mentioning contributors in articles. You can always say on your userpage that you were the discoverer of such and such, but it's generally bad practice to put "discovered by x" on a page. Toomai Glittershine Toomai.png The Stats Guy 22:01, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

Ok then, I'll be sure to do so in the future. Omega Tyrant 22:17, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
