Flame Chomps (ケロンパ, Keronpa), also known as Fire Chomps, are enemies from the Mario series.

Origin

The sole Flame Chomp that appears in New Super Mario Bros. U.

The Flame Chomp made its debut as a recurring enemy in Super Mario Bros.3, and has become a recurring enemy in later Mario games. They are flying metallic spheres with angry eyes, shark-tooth smiles, and are often trailed by four fireballs.

The Flame Chomps attack by shooting their fireballs at the player. Once they shoot all four fireballs, they become faster and start flashing, finally exploding after a while.

North America If you thought Chain Chomps were bad, wait till you meet Flame Chomps. They use the flames that make up their tail as ammo, and when they run out, they head straight for you and self-destruct. When you defeat one, it'll explode and take out any enemies nearby, and it'll leave a whole load of stat boosts behind, too.
