There are a few attacks in the Smash Bros. series that have the ink effect, primarily used by Inkling. Ink attacks cover foes in ink, which causes them to take more damage proportional to the coverage amount, with a maximum multiplier of 1.5x. The colour of ink does not matter, aside from making the coverage amount harder to estimate; an Inkling is equally affected by having their own ink reflected or used against them by Kirby.

The stage can also be covered in ink, which can slow down anyone who touches it except for the Inkling that left it behind. This appears to be an additional property of specific attacks, rather than a side bonus of the ink effect itself. As of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the only move capable of covering the stage in ink is the Splat Roller.
