Beehive is an item in Super Smash Bros. 4. It is a throwing item, and will spawns bees that damages the player who gets hit by the beehive; however, if the attacker throws the beehive on the ground, the beehive will shatter and the bees will attack the person who threw the beehive. The bees will remain for 10 seconds, chasing the player wherever they go, and can't be attacked. They deal 2-4 damage with each time they deal damage.

Origin

The beehive item originates from the Animal Crossing games, and it is present in every installment of the series. Beehives occasionally fall out of oak and cedar trees when shaken. When one falls out, it hits the ground and a swarm of bees chase the Villager. If the Villager does not quickly go inside a building or catch a bee with a net, he or she gets stung, and given a swollen eye that must either be treated with medicine or heals on its own when the player quits the game and starts again. It wasn't until New Leaf that the player was able to pick up a beehive afterwards, as they simply disappeared in previous installments.
