SmashArena.png

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, editors and users, to the Smash Arena! Each week this forum hosts a tussle between two characters, items, stages or anything else from the Super Smash Bros. series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll but functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that round. No, you don't have to vote for the character with strength & power, or the stage considered more "fair", or the combatant with the most fans - just vote if you are a total fanboy of the participant. So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you don't have to have an account to vote! Though new requests for fights can no longer be made, voting on already existing requests can be done here.

The Rules

  1. When voting, you can give a brief comment on why you voted the way you did, or you can just leave your signature. Long explanations for your vote are discouraged, as they are unnecessary (a vote is worth the same regardless of its reasoning), and they inflate the size of an already large page.
  2. You can vote only once. Any multiple votes will be removed.
  3. Put a # before your vote to facilitate the vote counting.
  4. Type ~~~~ after your vote to sign it, whether you are logged in or not. Using the wrong number of "~"s counts as not signing - your signature must have both your signature itself and the time.
  5. There is a line in each section consisting of "DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE". You are to do so; do not just type your vote at the bottom of the editing window. Not following this rule results in your vote being displayed in the wrong place.
  6. Put your vote below other votes; that is, so the votes are in chronological order.
  7. You may change or remove your vote at any time. To do this you must remove your old vote in its entirety; this is an exception to the "never remove comments" rule.
  8. You may vote only in the current fight; all previous fights are closed.
  9. Do not leave a space between your comment and the ones above it (and/or below it). Extra spacing results in the list numbers becoming disjointed.
  10. While previewing an edit of a single section, you will see loose formatting marks (such as a trailing |}). Do not alter or delete them; they are important to the page's construction and take effect only when the entire round is viewed.
  11. If there are multiple fights in a single round, try to make all your votes in a single edit.
  12. Any comments about the fight should be left in the comments section. The following kinds of comments are not allowed:
    • Comments relating to how close or one-sided a matchup is.
    • Comments about other users' opinions. You can point out that a user may have gotten a fact wrong, but you can't say things such as "That's not a good reason" or "But the other guy is better because X". Users can vote for any reason they want; trying to argue with someone's opinion generally has no positive outcome, in addition to simply inflating the comments section of an already large page.

If your vote is not added correctly - specifically, it breaks rules 3, 4, or 5 - you have a short amount of time to fix it (typically between fifteen minutes to an hour). After this time, it may be corrected and moved by any user to the Half-Votes section (adding the unsigned template if necessary), and it will count as half a vote. Attempting to move your vote out of the Half-Votes section may result in it being worth zero at an operator's discretion.

Multiple votes are not allowed; attempts to circumvent this with sockpuppets will result in your vote being discounted entirely, and is a bannable offense. Probated users who attempt to circumvent their probation with sockpuppets are also committing a bannable offense and will have their vote discounted. Remember that admins have access to Check User to check the IPs of any user, and will use it when sockpuppetry is suspected.

Intentional half-votes undermine the intent of the half-vote system as a way to punish voters for voting incorrectly. It is legal to want a vote to be worth half, but it is very heavily discouraged, and you must state in your vote you want it to be worth half. If you put your vote in the half-votes section without stating reasons why you want it there, it is worth zero and may be deleted by any user. You may replace it later should you do it correctly.

Above all, remember that voting in the Smash Arena is a privilege, not a right. In the vein of what SmashWiki is not, you are expected to at least attempt reasonable contributions to the wiki if you wish to retain your privilege to participate.

Do YOU have a Landmaster?

Votes for Fox's Landmaster

  1. I think cloned Final Smashes are awful, so even though the other two are better overall at killing, the original gets my vote. blue ninjakoopa 23:35, 4 January 2013 (EST)

Votes for Falco's Landmaster

  1. It's the only final smash with a strong chance to eliminate two of your opponent's stocks, and while it's a little weaker than the other two here, it hardly matters when it still kills and has much more capability to lift people past the top. Round 169: Frozen vs. Buried

Earthy and icy impediments clash. Is a cage of cryowater or the grip of ground the favoured status?

Votes for Frozen

  1. I pick Frozen. Offensively, it's not as impressive, as burying your opponents basically earns you a free KO whereas KOing an opponent with a freeze attack is situational at best (especially if Freezie is turned off; Freezie's utility is more limited than the Pitfall's but at least when it makes contact it can KO). Defensively, well, I'd much rather be Frozen than Buried. Plus, I think it's funny when an opponent (or my own character) is KO'd by a freezing attack (the Freezie to be more precise), especially in Melee. blue ninjakoopa 00:52, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  2. Dots The Mew NintenNESsprite.png 00:58, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  3. I like the sound made when an opponent is frozen. 204.191.140.194 01:44, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  4. It's always epic freezing your opponents. 110.174.90.69 07:06, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  5. Ice is my thing.174.30.218.105 10:51, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  6. Lived in the cold almost all my life, why wouldn't I choose it? Terrible is Winter 12:52, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  7. Don't give this effect the cold shoulder. DarkFox01, ETC. 12:59, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  8. Since I can use both items effectively, I'll vote for the better element. BlueRidiculous (talk) 18:40, 30 December 2012 (EST)
  9. Heck, It's winter so I'll vote for this. ChuckNorris24.png 15:46, 31 December 2012 (EST)

  3. Revenge! Without warning! JamesJH-Heartless.pngHeart 09:50, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  4. Make a custom stage which consists only of one row of soft platforms, as far down as they can be. Turn all items off except for the Pitfall, then set items to Very High. 5-minute match, let the fun begin. Toast Wii U Logo Transparent.pngltimatumTransparent Swadloon.png 09:59, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  5. Since DK can do this with his Side-B, and DK is my favorite character in all of Smash... 96.239.19.153 11:03, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  6. It's more sticky! The Awesome 11:40, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  7. This effect is actually really useful in Brawl, while the other barely helps. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 12:24, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  8. Pitting this against Frozen is no contest. The fact is, the Frozen effect has no depth. They should just put the Frozen status six feet under. Air Conditioner AC.png is still alive 15:17, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  9. More useful. Smash Master 16:57, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  10. Buried lasts way longer. Wiiurocks (talk) 20:48, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  11. It makes it easier to land majorly powerful moves on a buried fighter. Frozen fighters are a pain to send flying. 67.166.229.4 20:54, 29 December 2012 (EST)
  12. Attacked frozen character! No effect! ShupaRoehTypicalGuy.png 00:23, 30 December 2012 (EST)
