In regards to the former, although he struggled against the [[Aegis]] throughout 2022, Zomba upset #4 seed {{Sm|MkLeo}}'s Aegis 3-1 (upset factor 5); the subsequent confrontation on Twitter sparked beef between the two players that would carry over to their [[Tournament:Crown the Third|next supermajor appearance]]. Zomba also defeated #3 seed {{Sm|Tweek}} (upset factor 6) prior to Top 8, marking Zomba's first victory over Tweek outside of weeklies and eliminating Tweek at 9th. In regards to the latter, kameme was initially sent to the Loser's bracket by {{Sm|MuteAce}}, but then went on a long Loser's run, eliminating many players along his way, including {{Sm|MkLeo}} at 13th, which marked the first time MkLeo placed in the double digits at a North American major; and #5 seed {{Sm|Miya|p=Honshu}} at 5th (upset factor 4). Kameme ultimately finished 4th, tying his run at {{Trn|Umebura SP 9}} as his best performance at a supermajor since his character swap.
Finally, this tournament further widened the gap between the season's top 2 players - {{Sm|acola}} and {{Sm|Sparg0}} - and the rest of the season's top 5, as both players ultimately met each other in both Winner's Finals and Grand Finals. However, acola continued to struggle against Sparg0, choosing to use the Aegis and {{SSBU|Donkey Kong}} in both sets instead of his main {{SSBU|Steve}}. Sparg0 ultimately defeated acola 3-1 in Winner's Finals and 3-0 in Grand Finals, securing his second premier victory of the UltRank 2023 season and tightening the race for the #1 position for the first half of the year.

The tournament was the first Canadian tournament to reach the "Premier" tier on the UltRank 2023 - the highest tournament tier on the ranking - as well as the third tournament to reach it that season. However, the tournament's tier was threatened following the dropouts of several high-profile players, most notably Sonix - who could not obtain a Canadian visa in time.[1] - and Cosmos - who did not realize his pool started on Friday;[2] the dropouts initially dropped the tournament under the Premier tier threshold. Trivia
- Jmook became the first person to win a doubles event at BOBC more than once, winning Melee doubles with Cody Schwab after winning the same event with Aura at Battle of BC 4.
- After losing to Jmook in a top 8 qualifier match, Mango sandbagged with Marth against S2J to ultimately finish 9th, his lowest placement in over a year (excluding his GENESIS 9 run with Dr. Mario).
- Similar to the previous iteration, where there was a name ditto between Zain and Zain in Melee pools, there was a name ditto between Light and Light in Ultimate bracket (which was also brought to attention on social media).
- Maister was the only player in top 8 of the Ultimate singles bracket that did not attend Kagaribi 10 two weeks prior.
- S2J wore a jersey which misspelled his tag as "2SJ", which has led players and commentators to joke that "2SJ" was a completely different player.
- Cody Schwab became the first player without a permanent sponsor (under the Eggdog Esports banner) to win a Melee major since Zain at GENESIS 7 (under the Mogul Moves banner) three years prior.
