Darkshad is an SSB4 Ryu player from Cincinnati, Ohio, who competed in his first tournament in January of 2016.
Darkshad's diligence and commitment to improving has resulted with him, in just over a year's time, going from being an unknown Wi-Fi Shulk to earning the rank of 2nd on the Ohio Smash 4 Power Rankings, 7th on the Midwest Smash 4 Power Rankings, and 41st on the Panda Global Rankings 100. In 2017 to the present, Darkshad has been very active: attending tournaments through-out the USA, including several Sagas and GENESIS in California, CEO, EVO, Super Smash Con, GameTyrantExpo and large regionals through-out the Midwest such as Smash 'N' Splash and the Midwest Mayhem events.
Throughout 2017, Darkshad had won sets against a number of PGR ranked players such as Ally (at Super Smash Con 2017, Little Big House 3, and Holiday Heist 3), CaptainZack (at Climax 2), and Cosmos (at both Climax 2 and Holiday Heist 3). Other set wins include: Pugwest, Mr.E, and Pink Fresh at Glitch 3, and Locus, ZeRo, MVD, and Nairo at GameTyrant Expo 2017. In 2016, Darkshad took sets off of Larry Lurr, Abadango, MkLeo, Tweek, Zinoto, Elegant, Samsora, MVD, and Ned.
The highlight of Darkshad's play during 2017 was improved consistency and a clear "step-up" in performance compared to 2016. Finishing 7th at GameTyrant Expo 2017 by beating both ZeRo and Nairo, 9th at Smash 'N' Splash 3, 13th at Super Smash Con 2017, a respectable 33rd at CEO 2017, 49th at GENESIS 4, and a marginal 65th at both 2GGC: Civil War and EVO 2017, highlighting his 2017 performance. Regional performance had usually resulted in a top 10 finish with wins in Indy, Louisville, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Michigan and respectable performances at Midwest Mayhem events in Chicago, and a 3rd place finish at Glitch 3 to name a few. 2017 concluded with a 1st place finish at WinterTheatre in Indiana, and a similar 1st place win at Holiday Heist 3 in Michigan. At Holiday Heist 3, Darkshad came up on Losers side to defeat Ally, and managed to win both grand finals sets over Cosmos as well.
Darkshad hopes to realize continued progression during 2018. PGR v4 ranked him at 26th, representing a return to PGR after a strong 2nd half 2017. GENESIS and Frostbite, the first two "majors" of the new year were relatively successful for Darkshad. His 25th place finish at GENESIS and 9th place finish at Frostbite were a continuation of the positive trend from 2017. Although he fell down a bit, he was still ranked 45th on the Panda Global Rankings v5.
In SSBU, Darkshad continues to play Shulk with Wolf as a co-main and Ken as a strong secondary. He is considered one of the best Shulk players in the world and has taken sets off players such as Kome, Jakal, Magister, colinies, and Mystearica. Darkshad is formerly ranked 3rd on the Ohio Smash Ultimate Power Rankings.
