The Great Gonzales, commonly shortened as Gonz or TGG, is an SSBU Mr. Game & Watch player from New Jersey, and is considered to be one of the best players in New Jersey, as well as formerly one of the best Smash 4 Ness players in the United States. He is very well known for his performance in Smash 4 at Royal Flush, where he placed 5th. The Great Gonzales is also known throughout the Tristate scene, with people commonly saying the phrase "On Gonz".
The Great Gonzales was ranked 11th on the final New Jersey Smash 4 Power Rankings, uncharacteristically low due to lack of motivation by the end of Smash 4's lifespan. He has taken sets off of players such as Shoyo James, Wishes, Light, Mr E, Pugwest, Lima, WaDi, ScAtt, and Salem.
With the advent of Ultimate, Gonz initially mained Simon and Richter. However, after the initial month of the game he moved on to the higher tier character, Palutena. He achieved large success on the local and regional level, but did not make a national breakout performance until Smash 'N' Splash 5. In Ultimate, Gonz has wins over Tweek, Shoyo James, Wishes, LeoN, ScAtt, Suarez, Seth, Gackt, and Jakal, as well as numerous sets on the rest of tristate's best players.
As of the present, Gonz has stopped competing as frequently and now currently plays Mr. Game & Watch. He is currently ranked 9th on the New Jersey Ultimate Power Rankings and was formerly ranked 43rd on the Spring 2019 PGRU.
