Magic is an attack type in the Super Smash Bros. series that encompasses magical attacks. In Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, there is an effect that is also known as Magic. The type and effect are entirely separate: for example, a move can be Leg-type with a Magic effect, Magic-type with a Darkness effect, or even Magic-type with a Magic effect.

Magic-type attacks (but not attacks with a magic effect) are amplified by Magic Attack stickers in Super Smash Bros. Brawl's The Subspace Emissary and the Spirit skill or trait Magic Attack ↑ as well as certain Spirit Battle conditions in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Magic-type attacks are resisted by the Support Spirit skill Magic Resist ↑.
