Her basic move set is the same as Peach's, but this princess has her own unique personality. She's known for being upbeat, energetic, and a bit of a tomboy.
—"Today's Fighter" Super Smash Blog description

Daisy is a playable newcomer character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. An Echo Fighter of Peach, her appearance in the game was announced on June 12th, 2018. Deanna Mustard reprises her role as Daisy from previous Mario games.

Differences from Peach

General

  • Change Daisy is slightly shorter than Peach, as she is in most Mario series games.

Aesthetics

  • Change Daisy has a more energetic idle stance, with her arms held up by her side.
  • Change Daisy uses a Blue Toad instead of a red one.
  • Change Daisy has flower and petal effects for her attacks instead of hearts.
  • Change Daisy has different taunts and victory animations. Her intro is different as well.

Ground Attacks

  • Change The hitbox on Daisy's side tilt extends past her leg.

Aerial attacks

  • Change During her up aerial, Daisy performs two rainbow attacks instead of one.

Special moves

  • Change During her neutral special, Daisy looks towards the Blue Toad attacking her opponent instead of closing her eyes.
  • Change Daisy's right arm is bent during her parasol descent, whilst's Peach's arm is straight and Daisy's mouth is closed whilst's Peach's mouth is open.

Alternate Costumes

  • Default: Based on her design in the Mario series used since Mario Party 4.
  • White: Resembles a wedding gown. It is complimentary to Peach's white costume.

Trivia

  • Despite utilizing one in her moveset, Daisy has almost no affiliation with Toads - blue or otherwise - in the Mario games. The only main exception is in Mario Super Sluggers, where a Toad guards her after being frozen by Bowser Jr.
  • Daisy is the only Ultimate newcomer revealed during E3 to not be playable in the demo.
  • One of Daisy's victory animations is reminiscent of her celebration animation from Mario Golf: World Tour.
  • Daisy's pose for one of her unique animations matches promotional artwork of her first used for Mario Kart 7. It is unclear whether this is a taunt or an idle.
  • Daisy was the second newcomer announced for Ultimate. This marks only the second time a new clone character for a Smash title had been announced before the game launched, with the last time being Lucina in SSB4.
  • Daisy is the first character to be cloned from a female, being Peach.
  • Daisy, along with Ridley, were absent when the panoramic artwork was shown in the Direct as they had not been revealed yet. On the actual art, Daisy appears behind Snake.
