Rosalina known in Japan as "ロゼッタ" (Rosetta) is a character from the Mario series. She was confirmed as a Newcomer to Super Smash Bros. 4 on December 18, 2013 via Nintendo Direct.
Character Description
Rosalina has appeared in both Super Mario Galaxy games in non-playable roles. In the first Super Mario Galaxy, she runs the Comet Observatory, which is the home of herself and the Lumas. It passes by her home planet every one hundred years. Rosalina also appears in Super Mario Galaxy 2 after the player collects all 242 Power Stars. She first appeared as a playable character in Mario Kart Wii and is playable in all subsequent Mario Kart games. However, her first playable appearance in a mainseries Mario platformer was Super Mario 3D World.
In Super Smash Bros. 4
As a Playable Fighter
Rosalina was confirmed as the fourth Newcomer on December 18, 2013. She is confirmed to use a Luma, acting similar to a Pikmin, for a variety of her attacks.
Trivia
- Attendants at the 2007 Whobby Game Festival claimed to have seen an Assist Trophy of Rosalina in a demo of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. No evidence, however, has been seen verifying the veracity of this claim, and there is no leftover data in the final game that indicates Rosalina was intended to be an assist trophy.
