Battles With Other SmashWikidians

Omega Tyrant

Any experienced user of the SmashWiki can guess how that went. Yeah, I lost every match, usually only managing to deprive him of 2-3 stock out of 5. But I did manage to get a few cool KO's on him, such as a Lucas Back-Air Meteor Smash (albeit Timer-aided), Captain Falcon moves (i.e. Falcon Punch & Knee Smash) and best of all, a Water Gun KO.

We fought again a few weeks afterwards, but much to the same result. When you fight his Snake, it's more like fighting the stage, there's so many explosives.

There were lots of instances of us Brawling after this, but none were particularly notable, as I was yet to win. I came relatively close though :P

But even after Omega Tyrant disappeared from the Wiki, we still found opportunities to Brawl again. While I obviously lost most, I've actually racked up some wins, beating new main Lucario with Fourth Sword, and also beating his Ganondorf with the same chap, bringing justice to Hyrule.

PSIWolf

This was odd. I went into the fight as the host with items turned on, and PSIWolf had them turned off. The first match featured items, and PSIWolf won. The 2nd match also featured items, and I won, making use of Knee Smashes, Falcon Punches and Raptor Boost meteor smashes. I went into a third match in Mushroomy Kingdom with Jigglypuff, but when items appeared again, PSIWolf disconnected, telling me to turn items off. When we reconnected, he hosted, so I thought his item rule would apply, but after one item-free match where I lost with Jigglypuff, we played another match where items showed up, as I still had them turned on. PSIWolf disconnected again, and on the third reconnection, I set items to None. But they showed up anyway! I then disconnected, and PSIWolf couldn't be bothered to fight again. We generally seemed an even-ish match throughout, though.

Recently, we rematched each other. We were a very even match throughout, both of us getting our fair share of cool KO's (PSIWolf's Wolf Flash Meteor Smash was AMAZING), and we won almost as many matches as each other. It is worth pointing out, however, that PSIWolf is only 13, and plays with the Wii Remote on its side (how?), despite owning a GameCube controller (even weirder), so if he learnt to use the GameCube controller, maybe he could become a little better. Another thing of note is that while I generally suck with Toon Link due to my tendencies to Stall-then-fall off the stage, when I'm not Self-Destructing constantly, I'm pretty good with the guy. Namely the purple Palette swap whom I call 'Fourth Sword'.

Megatron1

I started off well in this, almost beating his Ike with my Marth, and then fought well in the next match with Olimar. But afterwards I just went downhill from every match. I went from very close losses to getting squarely booted in the face each time, and the only cool KO's I managed were a Flip Jump meteor smash, and a Lightning Kick KO. I did manage one win with Captain Falcon, but only because MegaTron1 SD'ed after I did myself.

Months and months afterwards, we finally fought once more. And this time, it swung a lot more in my favour. I won about 4 matches, lost 2, winning every time with Olimar. This kickstarted a winning streak with Olimar that day, I seemed to have improved with him a lot. I certainly wouldn't say I had a +1 matchup against Megatron1 though, he never even used his main Ike because of the lag. On the evidence of those matches, we'd be even, but if he used his mains, I don't know which way the tides would swing.

Lucasthefourth

These matches did feature lag, but it wasn't much of an offput. I won the vast majority of these matches, losing only once, yet there were two matches where Lucasthefourth was beating me, but then had to end the matches due to distractions (e.g. Phone calls), which was quite unfortunate for him. He even managed a Final Cutter meteor smash! But yeah, me win.

We've now fought again, and this time my battles weren't so easy. I won about 47.5% of the matches. Still laggy, which may've been a reason, and also because Lucasthefourth interrupted my Smash Taunt on Lylat Cruise >:( Anyways, we both got cool KO's. He got 2 Cape KO's, I got a Flip Jump meteor smash, maybe some more. One interesting outcome was when I was far behind, when Lucasthefourth picked up a Lightning, which made me huge, and I KO'd him twice with Marth, winning the match. Also, Fourth Sword prevailed again.

NOTE: Lucasthefourth has Smash Balls turned on. Not cool.

HeidiHedgefox

This was pretty much the opposite of my Megatron1 Brawls. At first we had some very close matches. In actuality, I only lost once, but the wins were only slight. In one match, I also discovered that Charizard is, in fact, invincible. She was a very good Sonic player, but as the matches went on, my wins became easier. I would advise that she needs to shield more.

Sonicsidekick95

Sonicsidekick95 is someone I know personally. In fact, he only joined SmashWiki to vandalise one of my Smash Arena votes, but isn't likely to vandalise anymore. I visited his house, and after I taught him how to use SmashWiki, we played Brawl. However, I very much outclassed him in the matches we played. We tried some other modes though, like Co-op Boss Battles (which went unsuccessfully, but I beat the mode on my own afterwards), and 15-Minute Brawl, where this happened, which was rather funny.

HavocReaper48

HavocReaper48 is another one of those SmashWikidians who is that little bit better than me. Not overwhelming pwnage like when I fight Omega Tyrant, but better than me. He won most of the matches, with me only earning one with Fourth Sword, though that was aided by Skyworld. There was also a match where I played as Fourth Sword in Corneria, and lost by 2%. 2 bloody percent. Seeing him DACUS was painful, as I just learnt how to do it the same day, but I cannot play without Tap Jump, so I'm stuck without it. Anyways, fun times were had.

Drakon64

Drakon64 is a Charizard main, and you could tell he'd built a strategy around it. He made good use of Up Smash and Fly, but he still had flaws. Drakon64 likes to glide, and tends to fly towards you, which is never a good idea. Other general flaws include inability to Ukemi, getting Chain grabbed by the silliest things, such as R.O.B.'s Up Throw, not knowing how to counter stall-then-falls, and the occasional recovery fail (though Drakon64 pinpoints this on the lag). As matches progressed, and with the level of stock going from 3 to 4, it became more apparant and clear that I was the better player, but credit is still due to the guy.

Bandit

When I learnt that this guy was an Ike main, I hardly expected much of a fight, as I haven't seen much potency from those kinds of players. After winning the first match (TEMPLE >:O ), I lost pretty badly in the following two, even with Meta Knight. His Ike did actions I never would have though of, like a forward air when he was in front of me, and other moves which I didn't realise could outspeed mine. After these two, though, I saw a weakness when I was playing as Wolf and Olimar. In fact, Bandit displays a strong hate against Olimar players, because he doesn't know how to handle them. Bandit is easy to keep at bay near a ledge. You can strike him with a projectile, grab the ledge yourself, dodge his Aether (which he tries to attempt planking with) and then counterattack him, or just wait for Quick Draw to fail. Some of those points are more a flaw with Ike than a flaw with Bandit, but he could learn to fix what he can of these.

We have brawled again recently, and by this point, he had a completely new set of mains. Bandit was better with some of these characters than he was with Ike, but that is not always the case. The first match was an easy, 3-stocked win. I even got a KO with Pikmin Chain. As the fights went on, we evened out a bit. Overall, I got 2 wins, and Bandit got 3. Some matches were disrupted by a need to dry plates, or get back on the right AV channel after my step sister sits on the remote >_>

Later on, Dots joined in, and I had a real run of bad luck. Came 3rd every time, getting myself KO'd pretty easily and early.

Then Bandit's Wii broke, so we didn't get to Brawl anyone for a while after that, but it came around eventually. Unfortunately for Bandit, my Olimar winning streak was very much underway after beating Megatron1 and LightningBlue with him, and Bandit felt the force of him every time. His R.O.B. beat my Fourth Sword, and he won about two other times, but I got the majority. Credit was still due, he faired well, but I just had an unstoppable mood going on. Subsequently, Bandit had a moodswing, blaming everything on lag and being rusty from being away for a Wii for so long. Well, I couldn't wait to hear how his matches with ESAM would go the next weekend XD

In recent times, Bandit has started to prevail over me. Some of the times I get most or all of my wins back, other times I do not. But his ragequitting has gone to another extreme. I was fighting him in an online tournament, and we'd both won one match each in our set. The final match is in Pirate Ship, where he is KO'ed by the hull of the ship at one point. He keeps fighting until the end of the match, where I star KO him. As he is being Star KO'ed, he ragequits, and then drops out of the entire tournament, swearing. Just calm down, dude.

Shaun's Wiji Dodo

As a European would expect when Brawling an Australian, there was extreme lag in our matches. The matches went by literally frame by frame, but it was still quite visible that Shaun's Wiji Dodo is the better player. He beat me in all of our one-on-ones, making use of his Marth and Donkey Kong strategies. However, for some of our matches, Avenginbandit joined in. Me and Bandit didn't explicitly take sides with each other, but Bandit seemed to focus his attention on Shaun's Wiji Dodo. One humourous point was when Shaun's Wiji Dodo was trying to recover, as was Bandit, so Bandit just used Aether, and sacrificially KO'd the pair of them, resulting in a win for me :D I also managed to win the following match in Skyworld, making use of stage spikes. Still very clear that Shaun's Wiji Dodo is better at Brawl than me, though.

We clashed again recently. And I finally got my first one-on-one win against Shaun's Wiji Dodo! And that win was truly spectacular. Due to the extreme lag in our matches, we played our games at 2 stock. So when you succesfully land two Judge #9's, you can guess the outcome. I also came very close to a Ganondorf win in Spear Pillar and a Lucario win on Final Destination. Later, I did beat Shaun's Wiji Dodo's Ike with my Marth, but I still lost far more than I won. We did have a lot of fun though, and another bit of fun was that, while we were brawling, Kyurem's new formes were revealed, and later, Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 Versions themselves also showed their faces.

Since then, I have gotten another one-on-one win, this time with Wolf, though Wolf is admittedly at a heavy advantage in lag, or at least in the opinons of me and Shaun's Wiji Dodo.

Another day, Shaun's Wiji Dodo challenged me to some Brawls so I could practice my skillz in preparation for an online tournament I would be competing in later that day. As you would expect, I got owned in most of these matches, but I actually scratched up two wins. I've been disallowed from calling the first win legitimate, as Shaun's Wiji Dodo played as Captain Falcon, and was just trying to Knee Smash me for the last two of my stocks, and I beat him with Ganondorf. My second win was with Fourth Sword, where I beat his Marth. one of the KO's to Shaun's Wiji Dodo was a self-destruct, but regardless, I managed to, after losing two of my own stock, take out all three of his stocks with just one of mine left.

But it isn't fair to just point out the things that I did well. Shaun's Wiji Dodo got an amazing down air spike with Marth, and he got a nice Reverse Falcon Punch too. Though I got a Cape KO :P

In total, I have attained a whopping two fully legitimate wins.

Dots

When I came into play with Dots, I expected to lose heavily. Other SmashWikidians had told me that Dots was good, and additionally, he is a Meta Knight main. When we started playing, I was surprised by how close our matches were. I never actually won, but it was often the case of last strike wins. but as the matches went on, it was just Meta Knight after Meta Knight after Meta Knight. I asked Dots kindly to stop, but he continued to play as Meta Knight. Eventually, this became boring and tedious, and I figured that the only way to stop Dots from playing as Meta Knight was to quit. And so I did. Dots did turn out to be away from the computer, but I was unaware of this.

But we since Brawled again, and this time, Dots did use characters other than Meta Knight. We evened out a lot more this time. The win ratio was probably a bit more in his corner, but I still got a fair amount of wins. I beat his Meta Knight with my Ganondorf (albeit with two Flame Chokes), and I won twice with Ike, a character I don't exactly main. Also came close to a win with Sheik, so in general, I did rather well with some of my lesser performing characters. On the contrary, par one win, my Olimar got wrecked XD

One thing I don't get about the guy is that he flat-out refuses to Brawl anyone that is notably more skilled than him, which also leads to him not participating in tournaments I could meet him in, and that's a shame.

LightningBlue

I first wound up Brawling LightningBlue during some sessions with Bandit. LightningBlue did actually get a cool Super Jump Punch KO on me while 3-way matches were ongoing, but when we slimmed to one-on-ones, it was clear who the better player was. I often self-destrcuted with Mets Knight and Ganondorf in my matches against LightningBlue, to the point where I have one stock, and LightningBlue has three, yet I still prevail the winner.

Then an issue occurred that I had not encountered while Brawling SmashWikidians before. during a one-on-one, though Bandit has also done this during matches with myself and Shaun's Wiji Dodo. When I was winning with Ike to a certain extent, LightningBlue disconnected. He also did this in the following match where I played as Ike. And then he left altogether. LightningBlue was not on the IRC at the time for me to talk to, though this was something I did not expect, and hope not to see again from anyone.

LightningBlue has learnt a lot since, and now puts up a good fight. But this fight is strange. An example I can offer is that we were in an online tournament one day, where every player in the tournament he actually fought defeated him 2-0, a fair amount of those people I defeated myself in our own sets (I got 3rd out of 8)

But whenever I fought LightningBlue, I always found myself losing, even after the tournament had finished. I don't understand why this is, I don't alter my playstyle very much at all when fighting him. When I do get a win, it is a very one-sided match, but I don't feel I win enough. I'm not denying that the guy is skillful, but I personally feel I should be the better player at this moment in time.

1337 B33FC4K3

1337 B33FC4K3 is relatively new to online Brawling, and this showed. 1337 B33FC4K3 seemed to be a decent Brawler, knowing how to chain throw with Falco, and also getting a great Falco Phantasm meteor smash. But 1337 B33FC4K3 is prone to self-destructing. He did it quite frequently during our one-on-ones, and when Vincent Tran joined in, he kept doing so. It could be interesting to see how he plays offline.

After this, I'd heard that 1337 B33FC4K3 had been improving, so I was quite eager to challenge him again, and eventually this happened. Indeed, 1337 B33FC4K3 had significantly improved, learning a lot of advanced techniques, such as practical DACUS, good timing with Ukemi and mastery of DI. Almost.

I stuck to my mains for the most part, and while the matches were often close, I won the majority of the matches where I did use my mains, with 1337 B33FC4K3 only winning a few, though he sometimes made mistakes that cost him the whole match, such as failure at Falco's recovery.

1337 B33FC4K3 is now a very respectable Brawler, and can only grow. Once he gains more experience, he'll probably exceed me, but for now, I'll keep my +1 matchup.

Vincent Tran

Indeed, as you would infer from above, Vincent Tran joined in with my Brawls with 1337 B33FC4K3. Though this was the plan all along, Vincent Tran just joined late because his TV wouldn't turn on. Vincent Tran got the first two wins, and then came last, generally maintaining a good balance throughout. I then invited Toomai to join our matches, so that we could have a full four-way Brawl. unfortunately, 1337 B33FC4K3 at that very precise moment needed to go do household chores. Me and Vincent Tran hadn't yet registered Toomai's friend codes, so I found myself in a one-on-one against Vincent Tran.

Vincent Tran actually played a rather good Link, giving my Olimar a run for his Pokos, but I started to come out on top, and then Vincent Tran self-destructed.

Toomai then joined, and everything got a lot slower.

Toomai

Toomai's slow connection did bring Brawls to a very low rate of speed, but were enjoyable regardless. Myself, Toomai and Vincent Tran all got our fair share of wins, after a good amount of matches. Blows were always being traded, and had the matches been offline, they would have been fast-paced.

At the end of it all, me and Toomai did have two one-on ones. My Fourth Sword prevailed over his Kirby without losing a stock (although, we only had two :P), and my Zero Suit Samus was on top of Toomai's Yoshi, before tether recovery showed its downsides. We also play Mario Kart 7 frequently.

Air Conditioner

An odd experience happened relating to this user. See, I thought I got to Brawl him, so I wrote this for his bio on my userpage:

Air Conditioner in Brawl has a lot of qualities you wouldn't want from on online brawler on this site. Air Conditioner plays with items, which is fun for some, but no online brawler should ever have Smash Balls or Dragoon turned on if trying to become competent. He seems to main Pikachu, but with Pikachu, he just spams Thunder Jolt, Thunder, and puts a lot of Skull Bashes in. Yet it's duff moves like these Skull Bashes that are proving a downfall of his.

Air Conditioner hasn't developed much of a defensive game, instead just keeping a distance and spamming Pikachu specials. At close quarters, it doesn't need much to take Air Conditioner down, and he rarely shields. But he's still sporting, and won't just L+R+A+START if he loses badly, a quality I have encountered with some players lower than my skill level.

Yet this turned out to be quite the odd situation. See, the real Air Conditioner was at a party all day, and his brother was pretending to be him. Not only did he play Brawl rather badly on Air Conditioner's behalf, but he also blanked a big bit of Air Conditioner's userpage. On IRC, he then started complaining about how people had insulted his Brawling potency, and that he had depression etc.

The real Air Conditioner later found out about this, and is exacting revenge. I should get to Brawl the real guy someday.

Mousehunter321

Brawling Mousehunter321 was very interesting. We got a very even number of wins between us, and we both got some stand-out KO's (though the majority were Falcon Punches, there were good Shield Breakers as well).

But I was suspicious about something throughout. See, Mousehunter321 showed off a lot of advanced techniques, making good use of short-hop aerials, and is even capable of performing a DACUS with the Tap Jump turned on. But at the same time, he sometimes just stood blankly and took a hit he could have avoided. I was starting to think that Mousehunter321 may have been suffering from input lag, which was odd, as I wasn't suffering any input lag.

We had a good quantity of matches, until my Mother came in and watched the entirety of our last fight, pressurising me to quit, and asking questions. "So is this one of your American friends?" "What's his real name?" "He could be a 40-year old perv!" (sarcastically, of course)

So I did quit, and I then went on IRC with Mousehunter321. We talked about our brawls, before the topic came up of our match lag. See I had mainly lagless gameplay, with a few dark spots, but Mousehunter321 said he had lag throughout. That explained a lot for me, as this competency inconsistency seemed odd. So overall, I would have guessed that Mousehunter321 may very well have been better at the game than me, though I couldn't say for sure.

We did Brawl again the following day though. Of course, we started off with my typical Brawl convention of using each of my mains once, then using whoever the hell I wanted. Once again, we both racked up an even number of wins each. Mousehunter321 also said that his lag had improved.

But Mousehunter321 later requested that we Brawl again, but I exclusively use Olimar and Toon Link. Likewise, Mousehunter321 would only use Marth and Falco. I co-operated, and I surprised myself with how many wins I got. I got the vast majority of the matches, a good amount of the time with two stock, or one healthy stock. Mousehunter321 even disconnected during one match, though that could just be down to other matters. We also had a match with two CPU's, which was unique. Yet I'm still suspicious as to how much lag Mousehunter321 has, as I had none whatsoever, and a Brawler of his knowledge and potential should be of higher ability than myself.

On the evidence of those matches, I'd say I had a +1 matchup against Mousehunter321, but offline, it may not be that way.

Mr. Anon

Mr. Anon was the first SmashWikidian I ever challenged to a Brawl, but we never fought until June 12 2012. But te long overdue matches finally happened, and they played out largely in my favour. Mr. Anon is a Kirby main, and can utilise the essentials a kirby main should be able to, like forward throw to up air. But his defences were lacking, and so it wasn't hard to strike him and get the ultimate KO. One thing of note is that he makes big use of the Kirbicide. The Kirbicide is fun every now and again, even moreso with King Dedede, but Mr. Anon adapts it into his regular playstyle, and uses it for offensive means. This could backfire, or just make for tedious KO's in his favour. It would be funny if it was only once or twice, but it was more. Mr. Anon beat my Olimar once, and my Ganondorf a few times, but otherwise, I won the rest.

BlindColours

I only actually got one singular one-on-one match with this guy. He was playing as Meta Knight, I was Fourth Sword, and solidly beat him, without even using the items he had turned on. Who the heck has the Smoke Ball turned on? Smash Balls and Super Scopes also featured. So certainly not the most outstanding Meta Knight I've ever faced.

What was fun, though, was that we wound up in 4-way matches between ourselves, Bandit, and Shaun's Wiji Dodo. These were great fun, as we all picked random (expect for BlindColours, who stuck with Meta Knight and Ike). Of course, I found myself getting wound up with characters like Pit and Sonic, but I still got Olimar at some point. As you would expect, Shaun's Wiji Dodo won most of these matches :P

I came last a few times, though BlindColours was the one who would typically come in fourth. I came third mostly, but I came second a few times as well. Therefore, Bandit alternated between second and third. The matches had some great moments, like an amazing Aura Sphere KO steal from Bandit as I was up-smash KO'ing BlindColours at 172% damage.

Perhaps I'll get some more one-on-one matches with BlindColours in the future.

Smoreking

A SmashWiki user of old, Smoreking decided to come on IRC one day, and I jumped on the opportunity to Brawl him. Smoreking told me he does not play Brawl actively, only with friends, and might not be too good, but Smoreking was in fact, rather competent. I beat his Snake with two stocks remaining as Olimar, but he was utilizing all of the necessary techniques for a professional Snake, DACUS, C4 Jumping, and the like. Then in turn, Smoreking wrecked my Olimar with his Falco, with he himself having two stocks remaining, and using some crazy skillz I've never seen in any of my Falco opponents. We were to have a third match of Fourth Sword vs. Jigglypuff, but Smoreking had to quit during the match. The battle was suitably even when it ended.

I hope to Brawl Smoreking again, as he makes a very good match for me.

Fugudev

When this user joined the Wiki, I definitely wanted to Brawl him, as not only did he partially main Olimar, but he also claimed to be semi-professional. Not only that, but he's 13, so it would be interesting to see a player of that age be of such a skill level. Of course I wanted to do Olimar dittos with Fugudev, either for fun if we were even, or to learn if he was better.

T'was the former, and while I won more often than not, our matches were very close, and fun. But his other main. Daaaamn. I've never fought a decent Ice Climbers player before, but I certainly found one here. My Toon Link had some close matches with Ice Climbers because of his camping game and general matchup advantage, but my Olimar got wrecked. This guy can do the super-difficult back throw chain, as well as forward throw to forward air meteor smash. Ice Climbers are favourable against Olimar in terms of matchups, and it was evident, I didn't stand a chance with Olimar. Fugudev also made good use of desynchronized Blizzards and Squall Hammers. As I said, Toon Link fought Ice Climbers well, but Olimar didn't. I'm really torn as to whether or not the guy is semi-professional or not, because he can do really impressive chain grabs, but can't always reach the opponent without getting fended off, particularly when fighting campy characters like Toon Link. Even though Fugudev made use of desynchronized attacks occasionally, other times, he was just trying to run straight for you and grab, and it backfired sometimes.

Fugudev was also the first good R.O.B. I've ever played, beating my Olimar twice despite an unfavourable matchup. Them Gyros, man. I beat all of his other secondaries convincingly enough, barring one loss to Jigglypuff, which could be blamed on one premature fall.

So all in all, Fugudev made for a great opponent, whether we were even, or much moreso in his favour.

We Brawled again recently, though these matches were very much in my favour, beating his secondaries woth 2-3 stock, and his Ice Climbers with 1-2 stock. The only time he won was when I used Marth. I even beat one of his secondaries with Mr. Game & Watch. Though I never faced his Ice Climbers with my Olimar, if I had, I may still have lost.

Guacamole

Guacamole is a Toon Link main, like myself, so dittos were to be expected. In our first ditto, we were even throughout, but I still won in the end. All dittos afterwards were more decisively in my favour. To improve his Toon Link, Guacamole needs to substiture his down airs for bombs. Guacamole used down airs far too much, and he used Bomb about twice per match. Guacamole also considers Pit to be a secondary of his, but this Pit needs a lot of work doing to make it stand a chance against even a relatively competent player. Guacamole has potential to be a good player, but it may be a while before he can catch up to players around my skill level. I get along with Guacamole as a person very well though, as we're both fans of LP'er LuckySevenDX :P
