Trivia
- Strangely, despite having artwork from their series, the Pokémon Trainers themselves use their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate art instead, and are the only Pokémon fighters to do so. This could be due to them lacking Pokémon Global Link artwork themselves as every other Pokémon spirit has such artwork besides the ones specifically mentioned not to.
- The Pokémon Trainers are also the only human Pokémon spirits.
- Despite being Poké Ball Pokémon, Snivy, Fennekin, Fletchling, Spewpa, Gogoat, Swirlix, and Marshadow do not have spirits.
- Beedrill, Onix, Koffing, Starmie, Cyndaquil, Porygon2, Torchic, Gulpin, Bonsly, Munchlax, and Weavile are the only former Poké Ball Pokémon not to appear as spirits.
- Along with Koffing, Cryogonal, Gastly, and Petilil do not have spirits despite having appeared as Smash Run enemies like Chandelure.
- While Deoxys in its Attack Forme does not appear as a spirit, it still appears as a spirit in its Normal Forme.
- Several background Pokémon also lack spirits: Butterfree and Fearow from Saffron City; Magnezone, Electivire, Snorunt, Snover, Drifloon, and Hoppip from Pokémon Stadium 2; Whimsicott from Unova Pokémon League; Helioptile, Emolga, and Magnemite from Prism Tower; Axew, Infernape, Tepig, Pyroar, Klinklang, Registeel, Honedge, Wailord, and Clawitzer from Kalos Pokémon League.
- This makes Registeel the only Legendary Pokémon featured in Ultimate not to have a spirit.
- The Pokémon series has the most spirits, and is the first overall to receive DLC spirits.
- The base stats of the Arceus spirit are both 2006, which is the year Pokémon Diamond and Pearl were released in Japan.
- Detective Pikachu is the only Pokémon spirit that represents a Pokémon spin-off title or series.
- Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevee were the first spirits confirmed to be downloadable content.
- They can be obtained by having save data of the respective Let's Go! game on the same profile as Ultimate.[1]
- Once obtained through the first method, they can be obtained again either in the Spirit Board or in the Vault Shop.
- Since v2.0.0, they can be obtained directly in the Spirit Board or in the Vault Shop.
- This makes them the second collectible in a Smash game to be obtainable through having save data for another game, the first being Melee's trophy of Olimar, being only obtainable through having save data for Pikmin. Unlike the trophy, Partner Pikachu and Partner Eevee are obtainable without the save data.
- Excluding fighter spirits, Detective Pikachu, and DLC spirits, the Pokémon spirits are in numerical order by Pokédex number.
- Zacian & Zamazenta is the first Legend-class Primary Spirit introduced since the game's launch.
- It is also the first DLC Legend-class spirit to not be a part of a DLC Spirit Board.
- It is also the only Legend-class spirit that only lasts 5 minutes rather than 15 minutes on the Spirit Board.
- Due to the shutdown of Pokémon Global Link, all Generation VIII Pokémon use their Sugimori art instead, and are the only Pokémon in the game whose spirits sport this distinction.
- However, artwork for these Pokémon in the Global Link style does exist, and can be seen on merchandise.
