Shogun (しょーぐん) is a retired Ultimate Snake player with a Fox secondary from Japan. He was considered the best Snake player in Japan prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shogun is currently ranked 22nd on the Japan Player Rankings and 124th on the 2023. He has defeated players such as Cosmos, Shuton, kameme, zackray, Abadango, T, KEN, and Gackt.

Shogun is a top level SSBB player mostly known for his Snake from Japan. He was ranked 30th all time on the 2014 SSBBRank. His most notable placings outside of regionals in Japan were 9th at Sun Rise Tournament, losing eventually to 9B, and 17th at Apex 2014. At Apex, after qualifying easily in pools, he won vs Shugo before losing to Nick Riddle in Winners. In loser's, he won vs Atomsk and Toronto Joe before losing to Leon.
In SSB4, he was a Fox player, and was considered the best Fox player in the Japan. Shogun was formerly ranked 23rd on the JAPAN Smash 4 Power Rankings and 82nd on the Panda Global Rankings 100. He has taken sets off of players such as Abadango, Earth, WaDi, Choco, Etsuji, 9B, ikep, and Atelier.

Notable tournament placings
In SSBB, Shogun was a Snake player, and was considered one of the best Snake players in the world. Shogun was formerly ranked 30th on the 2014 SSBBRank.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
On December 6th, 2018, Shogun joined GameWith along Zackray. On January 14th, 2020, Shogun parted ways with his sponsor.

Outside of competition, Shogun is also known for directing Smash Documentary: Road to the New Era, a documentary series that covered the history of the Japanese Smash scene.

Playstyle
Shogun is known for his very smart playstyle coupled with great match-up adaptation, as well as often going for mixups and flashy conversions.

In Ultimate, as Snake, he is a prominent user of B-reversing, Turnaround-B, wavebouncing and Z-Catching. His neutral mostly consist of setting up grenades to throw them at his opponent in order to wall them and put himself in an advantageous position where he can pressure his opponent's shield with down tilt, go for a grab, or follow up with neutral or down aerial for more damage. Shogun also tends to approach with either neutral aerial or dash attack. His ledgetrapping relies less on using up smash to cover multiple options like the other top level Snake players, and instead puts more emphasis on conditioning, using grenades and C4 to bait his opponent and often going for hard punishes. He can also play games without using grenades like he did against Maister at Kongo Saga.

Shogun (しょーぐん) is a retired Ultimate Snake player with a Fox secondary from Japan. He was considered the best Snake player in Japan prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shogun is currently ranked 22nd on the Japan Player Rankings and 124th on the LumiRank 2023. He has defeated players such as Cosmos, Shuton, kameme, zackray, Abadango, T, KEN, and Gackt.

In SSBB, Shogun was a Snake player, and was considered one of the best Snake players in the world. Shogun was formerly ranked 30th on the 2014 SSBBRank.

On December 6th, 2018, Shogun joined GameWith along Zackray. On January 14th, 2020, Shogun parted ways with his sponsor.[1]

Outside of competition, Shogun is also known for directing Smash Documentary: Road to the New Era, a documentary series that covered the history of the Japanese Smash scene.

Playstyle[edit]
