''Super Smash Flash 2'', ''Super Smash Bros. Crusade'', and ''Super Smash Land''. Both ''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Smash_Flash Super Smash Flash 2]'' and ''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Smash_Land Super Smash Land]'' have Wikipedia articles. Both ''Super Smash Flash 2'' and ''Super Smash Bros. Crusade'' have been in developed and updated for over a decade. ''[https://mcleodgaming.fandom.com/wiki/Super_Smash_Flash_2 Super Smash Flash 2]'' and ''[https://projectcrusade.fandom.com/wiki/Super_Smash_Bros._Crusade_(current) Super Smash Bros. Crusade]'' have large dedicated wikia's. ''Super Smash Flash 2'' and ''Super Smash Bros. Crusade'' have their own small competitive communities with a surprising amount of media made by the communities. ''Super Smash Land'' was made by the same creator of ''Rivals of Aether'' and it basically serves as a prototype for that game, while being a complete game by itself.
I propose in this article relatively small sections be made of these 3 fan games, in the style of the [[Gameplay modification|Notable gameplay mods]] section in the mod article. Each game would get a relatively small description, a link to their Wikipedia page, their dedicated wikia's, and download/play link.
To also make it clear, I'm not advocating they should get their own article on this wiki and the fan games should be limited to just these 3, as far as I know there are no other fangames that are remotely as notable as these 3, plus the golden age of fan games is long since over by now. It should be clear its just these 3 and they will not get their own dedicated articles, which the Wikipedia article and dedicated wikia should be enough to satisfy anyone's urge to write about or learn more about these fangames. :I honestly don't mind listing these three and just these three since I know they are by far the most popular and influential Smash fangames, not to mention how I at least know SSF2 has a pretty active tournament scene. However, I do know many people have genuine concerns regarding adding any fangames, especially since it can lead to a slippery slope where people then try to add other fangames and justify it as "popular", and as much as I do believe coverage of the popular fangames is worthwhile, I do also understand these concerns. :As an old head who has been around since the Wikia days, I'm ok with this. I know for many users, fan content (aside from mods) is a hard line that they will adamantly oppose the wiki ever crossing, but these three fan games are clearly a step above notability and it does no harm to simply just acknowledge their existence on this page. Been a few days. Looks like the proposal has been accepted. To reiterate for feature reference only '''Super Smash Flash 2''', '''Super Smash Bros. I know we don't cover fanon, but can't there at least be a simple article about fan games in general? Besides, we have something similar with Machinima. Blindcolours TONDA GOSSA. 21:18, 30 September 2011 (EDT)

Super Smash Flash 2[edit]

Considering how I know a lot about this game, would it be alright if I made a section just for SSF2? It would just be used as an example for a fanmade game. Aidan the Average Gamer (talk) 15:35, 7 August 2014 (EDT)

Add 3 notable fan games to this page proposal:[edit]

The rule to not include any mention of specific fan games was made over a decade+ ago, even before I believe the site migration happened. This was decided when the wiki was still trying to figure what they were going to be and to not be flooded with fanon stuff like fanfiction and the like. It was also not clear what fangames were notable at the time. It is now over a decade later, where its more clear what fangames are notable. There are 3 fan games worth mentioning. Super Smash Flash 2, Super Smash Bros. Crusade, and Super Smash Land. Both Super Smash Flash 2 and Super Smash Land have Wikipedia articles. Both Super Smash Flash 2 and Super Smash Bros. Crusade have been in developed and updated for over a decade. Super Smash Flash 2 and Super Smash Bros. Crusade have large dedicated wikia's. Super Smash Flash 2 and Super Smash Bros. Crusade have their own small competitive communities with a surprising amount of media made by the communities. Super Smash Land was made by the same creator of Rivals of Aether and it basically serves as a prototype for that game, while being a complete game by itself.

I propose in this article relatively small sections be made of these 3 fan games, in the style of the Notable gameplay mods section in the mod article.
