The SSBMRank Summer 2023 lists the world's top 50 Super Smash Bros. Melee players in the first half of 2023 as compiled by Melee Stats. The rankings were announced in a series of start.gg articles published from August 7th-11th, 2023.

Methodology

28 people, such as top players, community leaders, tournament seeders, and regional power rankers, were chosen to be panelists for this edition of SSBMRank. The panelists were provided with the following prompt:
Based on the quality of results from December 19, 2022 to July 23, 2023 rate each player on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best).
Exhibitions, online tournaments, and tournaments that did not complete are NOT to be counted.
You may consider results at locals and invitationals, but understand that the environment surrounding these events may not always be the most serious in nature.
If you as a panelist are a player who is on the ballot, you may give yourself a score as a placeholder, but any score you use for yourself will NOT be counted
Panelist scores were then normalized, following which a final rating would be calculated based on a point estimate of the votes, with outliers suppressed on a percentile basis.

Trivia

• Junebug became the first Donkey Kong player to be ranked top 50 on a Melee global ranking list.
  • Coincidentally, this marks the second time he has placed 45th on a seasonal Melee global ranking list, tying his MPGR 2018 placement with his main (Sheik).
• Mekk became the first Ganondorf player to be ranked in the top 50 since Kage's placement of 46th on the SSBMRank 2017.
• Both Mekk and Junebug began playing their listed characters as "mains" the year before.
• SSBMRank Summer 2023 marks the first SSBMRank with none of the Five Gods in the Top 5, and the first time since the RetroSSBMRank for 2006.
