:That is possible yes, but part of the original reason for doing it this way was to limit the available options to only angles used in the games (especially for correctly colour-coding meteors and such). So, I just wanna ask this: Do you plan on further updating your "On the order of things" userpage?
I have quite a lot of choice words to say about it, but you haven't updated it in over a year, so I'm wondering if you have any interest in continuing with it just so my critiques don't go to waste. I was looking at Game and wanted to suggest using variables to create a CSS style-sheet of sorts and simplify things. I had a quick go at it by replacing <code>border:1px solid black;</code> with a variable that contained <code>border:1px solid grey; border-top-color:black; border-left-color:black;</code> and ended up saving about 3 KB and getting a closer look to the source. --CanvasK (talk) 18:40, February 1, 2021 (EST)
:Hm you're right Internet Explorer is indeed not using solid black for the deprecated "border=1" (I must have not looked closely enough the first time) (this is a 1999 website so IE's opinion is probably the best one). == Tier list discussion part 2 ==
I don't know if it'll be a vote between several aggregation methods you give or if it's open to other people giving their options, but I think I know a decent way the system could work. I don't know which sources are considered trustworthy, but mathematically I think this method would be the best way to average characters. From each tier list source, add each ranking they have on the tier lists together. For example, if 3 tier lists are aggregated, with one ranking Ganondorf 25, another 50, and the third 75, then his score would be 150, and if the tier lists rank Peach as 1, 5, and 10, her score would be 16. Then, arrange the aggregated tier list in reverse order of their scores, so because Peach's score is lower, she would be placed way above Ganondorf. This alleviates the problem of one character being top tier on one list and bottom on another by averaging their score out to be somewhere in the middle, and this also eliminated the use of low effort tier lists that don't order characters per tier. On an unrelated note, did you manage to see my suggestion for assigning the limbo percents to actual categories on your cloneosity page? 72.219.72.215 21:57, February 23, 2021 (EST)
:Just realized I didn't give out how to calculate tier levels. There are 86 fighters on the select screen, plus 3 for the separate pokemon and plus 2 for Pyra and Mythra. That makes 91 slots on the tier list, which is divisible by 7, a reasonable amount of tier levels (s, a, b, c, d, e, f). This makes 13 fighters per tier level. If the wiki wants to have s+, s, s-, etc., then probably 3 for each + tier and 3 for each - tier, leaving 4 for each regular tier. Obviously, it doesn't have to be this exact, but since the source tier lists might differ in how many characters are in each tier, this might be a reasonable way to estimate. Apologies if the asking this again is annoying, but when will the discussion about how the wiki will handle tier lists in the future continue? I asked Omega Tyrant about my suggestion and gave a reasonable refutal to it, but I'm still wondering when the wiki will be able to make a decision on what what tier lists to aggregate and how, or if we're just going to generalize tiers from now on. :I don't want to have to keep potentially annoying you, but it's just as annoying to both established editors and casual readers to give absolutely no information on when part 2 of the tier list, three months after part 1 ended despite saying part 2 would come in one month. It's annoying to people who come here for info on tier lists, and it's annoying to people who want to contribute to the consensus. The least that can be done is to say a reason why part 2 is taking so long when it's much more important in my opinion than most of the things you've been actively editing recently. == Template help ==
Hello, Toomai. Recently I've been having a lot of anxiety regarding User:CanvasK/SpiritBattleRow. A part of me feels like it is a lot of effort for only a few benefits; those being a fixed-size inspiration section and easier DLC handling. Specifying a min-width for the inspiration column minimizes the tall rows on small screens, which makes the fixed-size cells in the template less necessary. That leaves the DLC parts the only main benefit. As someone who has made templates for site-wide usage and has a lot of experience I wanted know if you had any thoughts or advice on the matter. I'm willing to change everything back to a standard wikitable if you think that would be best. --CanvasK (talk) 04:01, March 22, 2021 (EDT)
:I've decided I'm going to change things back to a wikitable for now; this isn't something I should be panicking about and losing sleep over. If you think the template is a worthy idea then I'll revisit it at another time. --CanvasK (talk) 04:49, March 22, 2021 (EDT)
::There are two main benefits of a template for this sort of thing: enforced consistency (preventing one page from being different than any of the others unless it just isn't written to use the template yet), and ease of change (one can edit the single template instead of every single row). For a use case like this, the only problem I can see is the risk of future changes requiring extra effort to fix (such as the introduction of battles with DLC-caused changes), since they can't be "freeform" and must be put into the template proper until they can be displayed at all.
::That said, while indeed you should back away and calm down if you're "panicking" about it, I'm not really sure what there is to panic about. Nothing is urgent about any of this, and this isn't likely to be a major sticking point for editors or casual viewers. You can take as much time as you want. Toomai Glittershine The Cloronic 07:27, March 22, 2021 (EDT)
:::Consistency and ease of change where on my mind when creating the template. The only pages that I know of that are different are the series pages where they don't list the series. We've already had existing spirits get DLC changes (namely some Xenoblade Chronicles ones) and those are easy changes.
:::I'm not sure if "panicking" was the right word for me to use, I wasn't fearing I would get banned or anything over it. But for the past three days my stomach was in pain and I was developing a headache over this. I don't exactly know why either. Perhaps it was me trying to force a different list style (built-in asterisk method or bullet character with a break tag), or maybe it was the structure of the template (stuff like "should this param be called something else? Maybe shorter?" or "if these were unnamed params then that would save bytes, but it would remove clarity and allow arbitrary inputs") -- either would require editing every page again if they were to change. Anyways, thanks for your input. --CanvasK (talk) 09:56, March 22, 2021 (EDT)

== Regarding Rosalina & Luma's stock icon images ==
You'll have to read this slowly, I tried to write this as concisely as possible.
Seems it was your bot that uploaded Rosalina & Luma's stock icon rips, for SSB4 and SSBU. Is there a reason that you have most of the filenames as "RosalinaHead" instead of "Rosalina&LumaHead?" Obviously the icons only depict Rosalina, but the alt costumes break Template:CharHead, and theirs are the only icons with filenames inconsistent with the fighter's full title, as well as with each other - the main SSB4 icons here and here are the only of their icons that use the proper full title.
If this was an unintentional discrepancy, I can move all of the alt costume stock icons to use their full title, hence creating redirects and fixing the problem. == Dark/Night Mode on Music (SSBB) ==
Hello Toomai. I noticed that Music (SSBB) has white text on a black background, reminiscent of "dark mode" common on Google, YouTube, and other popular sites. I'm not sure if it's my laptop (I have it set to automatically enable dark mode at night) or if it's being tested and I just ruined the surprise, but I thought you'd might know. The thing is, Music (SSBB) and its talk page are the only places one can see this dark mode applied (as far as I know); every other page has the traditional black-on-white. Hi. I noticed that the page Smasher:Crescentsoru has a broken file link, due to the wiki lacking the flag of Kyrgyzstan. Brawl Moveset Grab and Throws Templates[edit]
Hi Toomai. This is Super64, and I was wondering if you can update Brawl's throw template to match both the Smash 4 and Ultimate templates since they're basically the same. Additionally, would you mind adding a template for Brawl's grabboxes. The ones used for Smash 4 has an additional section for stretching grabboxes, which is nonexistent in Brawl. --Super64 (talk) 19:23, April 24, 2020 (EDT)

What's with the solo Banjo and Kazooie character icons?[edit]
Currently, only the one with both of them together is used in the mainspace, and for good reason. Mechanically, the two are the same entity, unlike the Ice Climbers, and it was pretty clear it was like that from their trailer. Just curious, what was the thought process behind creating those? 72.203.118.154 03:14, May 15, 2020 (EDT)
- I know they don't have much mainspace purpose, but they're still different characters that aren't just costumes, so I felt like having them. Toomai Glittershine The Incomperable 07:43, May 15, 2020 (EDT)

About NIWA draft[edit]
Hi, I took a look for your NIWA draft, and it was wonderful! But as evidenced by two text replacements by Porplemontage, DK Wiki was merged into Super Mario Wiki last year (see also: Bulbapedia article), and Pikmin Fanon will be closed on the next September (discussions and details here). Could you put these infos into the infobox? Also, since I don't think all readers know about NIWA, I put the links for NIWA's main hub, and articles on the three founding members on the alliance (Bulbapedia, Zelda Wiki and Mario Wiki). Thank you. --Raffina H.-207 19:59, August 17, 2020 (EDT)
Angle icons[edit]
Instead of uploading images for each angle, wouldn't it be possible to use "transform: rotate();" with CSS? That way only a handful of images are needed. --CanvasK (talk) 11:12, October 17, 2020 (EDT)
- That is possible yes, but part of the original reason for doing it this way was to limit the available options to only angles used in the games (especially for correctly colour-coding meteors and such). This used to be quite efficient, it's just that the more recent games seem to have dropped the agreement to prefer angles divisible by 5. Sheik's Palette Image Source[edit]
Since you uploaded Sheik's alternate costume image over eight years ago, do you have an idea of where this came from? As indicated here, the images aren't extracted from Melee itself. Wondering if this is official or not. davidvkimball 15:02, December 14, 2020 (EST)

1226 idea[edit]
I was looking at SmashWiki:12TP/1P Game and wanted to suggest using variables to create a CSS style-sheet of sorts and simplify things. I had a quick go at it by replacing border:1px solid black;
with a variable that contained border:1px solid grey; border-top-color:black; border-left-color:black;
and ended up saving about 3 KB and getting a closer look to the source. --CanvasK (talk) 18:40, February 1, 2021 (EST)
- Hm you're right Internet Explorer is indeed not using solid black for the deprecated "border=1" (I must have not looked closely enough the first time) (this is a 1999 website so IE's opinion is probably the best one). I will improve that. Toomai Glittershine The Engineer 07:33, February 2, 2021 (EST)
- I'm using Firefox which shows different colors for top-left and bottom-right. I opened the page in IE11 just now and it is only using black. I guess for true recreation <IE5 would be best? --CanvasK (talk) 07:54, February 2, 2021 (EST)
- No it's not black, it's two very dark greys (#303030 and #202020), hence why I missed it the first time. I'm prepared to assume that this is not something that would have changed from back then. Toomai Glittershine The Pan-Galactic 07:56, February 2, 2021 (EST)
- I see it now. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't change, considering it doesn't think ctrl+numpad 0 and ctrl+0 are the same. --CanvasK (talk) 08:16, February 2, 2021 (EST)
- I got curious and tried to find a way to view the page in older versions. I didn't want to learn or setup a virtual machine but I found a site called classic.oldweb.today. I loaded the page in IE4 and got this when using a 1999 and 2005 date. I ran the site in both FF and IE11 and got the same thing. I also tried IE5.5 but it didn't load the background image (plus a couple other very minor issues). --CanvasK (talk) 09:08, February 2, 2021 (EST)
- Hm so it's actually significantly different. I'll do my own research and decide which interpretation to use. Toomai Glittershine The Zesty 20:20, February 2, 2021 (EST)

I've discovered this, which reveals the exact hexcodes of IE6's unstyled elements, and shows that the screenshot you provides is more-or-less correct (it's a bit off, but I can correct it by comparing the difference in the red table background). It also supports another test I did that shows IE11's compatibility mode renders in IE8, which has different border colour. Toomai Glittershine The Polychromatic 08:17, February 3, 2021 (EST)
Tier list discussion part 2[edit]
- Just realized I didn't give out how to calculate tier levels. 72.219.72.215 01:08, February 24, 2021 (EST)
72.219.72.215 14:32, April 16, 2021 (EDT)
- I don't want to have to keep potentially annoying you, but it's just as annoying to both established editors and casual readers to give absolutely no information on when part 2 of the tier list, three months after part 1 ended despite saying part 2 would come in one month. It's annoying to people who come here for info on tier lists, and it's annoying to people who want to contribute to the consensus. The least that can be done is to say a reason why part 2 is taking so long when it's much more important in my opinion than most of the things you've been actively editing recently. 72.219.72.215 21:51, April 20, 2021 (EDT)
Since Ultimate DLC is done, are there plans to have the 2nd tier list discussion? 157.242.208.75 22:37, February 8, 2022 (EST)
Template help[edit]
- I've decided I'm going to change things back to a wikitable for now; this isn't something I should be panicking about and losing sleep over. If you think the template is a worthy idea then I'll revisit it at another time. --CanvasK (talk) 04:49, March 22, 2021 (EDT)
- There are two main benefits of a template for this sort of thing: enforced consistency (preventing one page from being different than any of the others unless it just isn't written to use the template yet), and ease of change (one can edit the single template instead of every single row). For a use case like this, the only problem I can see is the risk of future changes requiring extra effort to fix (such as the introduction of battles with DLC-caused changes), since they can't be "freeform" and must be put into the template proper until they can be displayed at all.
- That said, while indeed you should back away and calm down if you're "panicking" about it, I'm not really sure what there is to panic about. Nothing is urgent about any of this, and this isn't likely to be a major sticking point for editors or casual viewers. You can take as much time as you want. Toomai Glittershine The Cloronic 07:27, March 22, 2021 (EDT)
- Consistency and ease of change where on my mind when creating the template. The only pages that I know of that are different are the series pages where they don't list the series. We've already had existing spirits get DLC changes (namely some Xenoblade Chronicles ones) and those are easy changes.
- I'm not sure if "panicking" was the right word for me to use, I wasn't fearing I would get banned or anything over it.

Symbol Update[edit]
Hello Toomai!
I'd like to change the current Dragalia Lost symbol with this new version, it's a SVG file and it's more in line with the look from the game. Right now this is protected so I need some help changing it.
--Sgt. Sarge (talk) 21:05, June 26, 2021 (EDT)
- This looks like the exact design I saw elsewhere on the internet as I was searching for references to create our current version of the symbol. I did not use it directly because it would be copying the original artist's work, so I instead investigated the original source material and did my own outline of the shape. Therefore, in order to change it, I will need proof that it is 1. more accurate and 2. not stealing from someone else. Toomai Glittershine The Brass 10:10, June 27, 2021 (EDT)
Do you have a newgrounds account? Cause I can message you and confirm that I am the original artist. Actually I'll just edit the description showing you. Here you go! And here is a Reference showing it's more accurate. --Sgt. Sarge (talk) 13:55, June 27, 2021 (EDT)
- Fair enough, I accept your revision. Toomai Glittershine The Incomprehensible 17:10, June 27, 2021 (EDT)

Hey there, long time no DM. I just wanted to suggest using this icon for the Rhythm Heaven smash symbol
This is also one that I did years ago. It's based off of the Café Dog, one of the few recurring elements in the Rhythm Heaven games. --Sgt. Sarge (talk) 15:24, August 11, 2024 (EDT)

- The staff of the RHWiki worked with me when I was designing our current RH symbol. I might bring up the idea of this change with them, but I think we're fine with what we have at the moment. Toomai Glittershine The Quintonic 22:18, August 19, 2024 (EDT)

Regarding Rosalina & Luma's stock icon images[edit]
Sincerely, Samuel the Banjo-Kazooie Boss. 12:33, September 17, 2021 (EDT)
- For those not watching the Discord, this was discussed and resolved there. Basically XL is stuck with legacy code that means it can't use the "& Luma" without being forced to also use "& Pikmin" when it uploads images, which is annoying but can be fixed with minimal fuss by redirects. Dark/Night Mode on Music (SSBB)[edit]
I can upload a screenshot if you can't see it. Blue Ninjakoopa 23:49, October 30, 2021 (EDT)
- Should be back to normal now! --Porplemontage (talk) 00:18, October 31, 2021 (EDT)
Question[edit]
Hello, is there a way to delete my account? I wish to clear things that I do not use anymore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SG2 8890 (talk • contribs) 01:56, April 22, 2022 (EDT)
- User pages can deleted on request, but we do not delete accounts. Omega Tyrant 02:24, April 22, 2022 (EDT)
- More specifically, we cannot delete accounts. It is a core rule of how MediaWiki works. There are technically tricks and workarounds, but we wouldn't do any of these just because a user don't use an account anymore, they are reserved for actual problems. Flag of Kyrgyzstan[edit]
Hi. I noticed that the page Smasher:Crescentsoru has a broken file link, due to the wiki lacking the flag of Kyrgyzstan. I was going to upload the flag myself, but decided against it as the Category:Flags page says the svg may need to be modified and I lack the technical knowledge to do so, so I thought I'd contact you about it. The smasher article in question is flagged for notability, so I don't know if it's worth adding the flag just now, but in case it is I thought I'd contact you about it.
