There are serious issues with The Big House 6 results page that I'll have to escalate to your ssbwiki superiors if they aren't resolved. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Juggleguy (talk • contribs) 17:58, 13 October 2016 (EST)
- I'm already on your talk page explaining the situation to you, so I can assure you that's not necessary. Disaster Flare (talk) 14:00, 13 October 2016 (EDT)
Focus
He's the best Luigi in Georgia, but I don't really know how to source that. Is being the best character in your state enough to qualify as a notable player? His best result is at FP6 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ovenbakedsemwitch (talk • contribs) 20:48, 15 October 2016 (EST)
- Firstly, please remember to sign your comments (you can see an instruction how near the top of the screen when you edit a talk page). Secondly, claiming they're the best in a state will not do much without evidence, which is why smasher articles are a thing when it comes to notable players sections. The only evidence you can really give in this case are if he's got a good rank on a Power Rank or having good results in general. Two results aren't going to cut it, in my opinion. You can find more info on that and more here. Disaster Flare (talk) 16:52, 15 October 2016 (EDT)
- Sry! Still learning the ropes. So looking at that notability guide, would I technically qualify? I lead the greater boston arena, which organizes tournaments for different games in eastern mass and nh.--Ovenbakedsemwitch (talk) 17:11, 15 October 2016 (EDT)
- Not really sure, to be honest.... XD I don't follow the competitive scene all that much, so I can really only explain the basics of notability. I'd recommend talking to someone like this guy for questions like that. Disaster Flare (talk) 17:44, 15 October 2016 (EDT)
Getting people to talk on a talk page
(first of all, is it even okay to go into an admin's talk page to chat about deletions? I don't know much about wikis but usually this is done in the deletion site itself)
So... how do i do that?
Look, yeah, i definitely just assumed and ran with it. Not the best ettiquette, but it was the only way i thought of that could draw some sort of attention. Besides, it's not like it's hard to delete again.
Do realize that i'm entirely new to this, and as such i understand y'all have your own methods of settling new precedents. I posted that in the talk page because indeed i was trying to either kickstart some discussion, or, in the case you guys were already discussing and i just missed things, to get up to date on how it went. My apologies if recreating a page makes me come across as a wiki vandal.
As far as i'm aware, my solution, that is, creating its own page, is perfectly acceptable. Instead of deleting the page, why not keep it up until someone provides an argument as to why it should be deleted (preferably in the TBH6 talk page)? I understand this is a new situation to the wiki, but if no one wants to discuss it, then why not leave it up for the people who actually want to contribute, like myself? That sounds a lot more preferable than the "limbo" state things are right now, wouldn't you say?
Pmcommenting (talk) 21:35, 15 October 2016 (EDT)
- A few things
- Yes, it is always acceptable to talk to an admin about anything, that's what we are here for :)
- Creating a page again after an admin deleted it without a reason other than assuming that we are ok with it is not ok.
- In order for the PM@TBH2 page to exist, there must be a consensus for it, and it should probably be on the page's talk (which you can create here). If you don't get anyone responding at first, wait for more users to get on (you can check that on the recent changes), then bump the page (just type "bump. ~~~~" on the talk page and maybe put something like "we need a consensus on whether or not this should exist") in the edit summary.
- We have an argument: There has never been an article dedicated for a PM (or any game for that matter) side event.
- And maybe this is something to bring up on the PM@TBH2 talk, but the "2" suggests that there was one of these prior? Maybe instead of making a page for the second one, we make one for the whole series. That I would actually find acceptable. Serpent King 21:56, 15 October 2016 (EDT)
The glitch I discovered with Jigglypuff
Somebody else on SmashBoards noticed my glitch [1]
Besides, wouldn't making a new page on this make others try this glitch out for themselves?
- That's...not quite how SmashWiki works. If we were to make a glitch article under the grounds that "it'll make others want to try it out for themselves", the wiki would be overstuffed with pointless glitches that nobody's gonna care about. There are plenty of other websites for things like that and we don't need to document every single little thing. On top of that, we try to keep glitch articles to only the most notable ones, as in the ones that have received the most attention, such as the Master Hand glitch or the Puff Up glitch.
- Also, I just wanna point out that you're not signing your comments properly, as they need both your username and the date and time of when that comment was made. Disaster Flare (talk) 21:28, 19 October 2016 (EDT)
Mario Kart Switch
All those characters I put in were actually in Mario Kart 8. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.60.226.20 (talk • contribs) 17:36, 22 October 2016 (EST)
- Please sign your comments (see the above when editing talk pages for instructions). Just because it looks like MK8 doesn't mean it is. Even if it's a rerelease, there could still be differences in available characters so we shouldn't just assume which characters are playable and which ones aren't until we get more info. Sock puppets?
Firstly, I should say that I didn't know this was against the rules, and contrary to what you may believe, I do respect rules that aren't illogical. However, I do have a reason for doing this. I had very briefly forgotten my password to my current account, so I created the other one. There's really nothing more to it. I don't intend on using the other account because I had found the password to this account a few days after forgetting it. But I'm just letting you know that there was no malice intended. Piledrivaaa (talk) 21:21, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
- That's one possibility I did expect, considering you only used it that one day and never used it since. Since it's still a sockpuppet however and since you don't use it anymore, I will keep it blocked, though if you want, you can speak to Toomai and he can merge that account with your main one so that way all of your edits are in one place. Disaster Flare (talk) 21:23, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
- That doesn't seem necessary. I only made a couple of edits on there, and like I said, I don't intend on using it. You can keep it blocked if you want, or delete it. Up to you. Sorry for the trouble, definitely won't happen again. Piledrivaaa (talk) 21:30, 25 October 2016 (EDT)
About your recent block
I'm not any special user on this wiki, but I'd also just like you to know the user that you blocked, 77.165.115.192, also had a strange username as for it has no letters, but still, thank you for helping keep smashwiki clean! :) --Drybones345(Smash) (talk) 13:22, 26 October 2016 (EDT)
- Well that's actually an IP, since we allow IPs to edit on SmashWiki. XD If it weren't an IP and it was a username, that'd definitely be against the rules as per our username policy, since it'd be extremely confusing. Disaster Flare (talk) 13:26, 26 October 2016 (EDT)
Stormfury
As someone who does quite a bit in the KS/MO community, I can tell you right now that the stormfury page does not need to be there 100% and stormfury started running events like a week ago... so yeahhh. Crim (talk) 15:41, 30 October 2016 (EDT)
- After doing research, I completely agree with you based on what I'm seeing. Thank you for informing me. Disaster Flare (talk) 15:48, 30 October 2016 (EDT)
