The sound that plays when Infantry and Tanks are summoned first appeared in the intro for the Famicom game Famicom Wars. [1]

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl

As an Assist Trophy

Infantry & Tanks is one of six Assist Trophies that needs to be unlocked before it can be used. Upon being unleashed from the trophy, GBA sprites of Soldiers and Tanks will emerge, shooting bullets and missiles, which will damage any opposing players. While the soldiers and tanks are marching around, an air-raid siren will sound. Much like Excitebikes and Lakitu & Spinies, this Assist Trophy is represented by actual sprites from a game they appeared in other than Brawl.

How to Unlock

Play a total of 300 matches of Brawls or related modes.

Trophy Description

Trophy

Units first introduced in Famicom Wars, where they fight battles against enemy forces. Infantry are the least expensive to deploy of all units. They're not too strong, but they move well and can capture property. There are two tank types: tank A, which is expensive but has good mobility and firepower, and tank B which is cheaper but can change battles with sheer numbers.

Trivia

  • These particular units are members of the Orange Star army, which has been the main force of the series since Advance Wars on the GBA.
  • Although the Assist Trophy is in sprite form, the bullets from the tanks are in 3-D form.
  • Despite a Headquarters building being prominently featured in the Infantry & Tanks design on the DOJO!! website and even their in-game Trophy, the HQ never appears when the characters are actually summoned during a match.
