The GameCube controller's X button.
The Classic Controller's X button.

The X button refers to the grey, cashew-shaped button on the right side of the GameCube controller or the small, white button towards the top right of the Classic Controller. It is used for jumping and changing the colour of the character costumes in Melee. The Nintendo 64, Wiimote, and Nunchuk do not have a X button.
