Coin is an attack effect used in Super Smash Bros. series. It is primarily used by Mario, Luigi, and Dr. Mario, who all use the move Super Jump Punch. If the attack connects, coins from the Mario franchise will come out of them. Coins will only come out of the sourspot for Luigi. Dr. Mario only has this effect in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate introduced Cappy having a chance of appearing alongside purple coins from Super Mario Odyssey. The effect is purely aesthetic and does not affect gameplay, though it does act as a visual indicator for if and how the attack connects.
