SSBB Marth combos
Hello Scr7. Because you asked about my things. I've played this game since its release in Europe and I've both practiced Marth for hundreds if not thousands of hours and played against countless of good players (I'm smashkng in both Smashboards and SMASHKNG All is Brawl). I started with maining Wario then Snake, then Ike and now Marth is my main. The combos I've listed are such I'm 100% sure are guaranteed excluding some Smash DI I've never seen anyone use against me so far or in any top Marth vs top player matches. I think that Dancing Blade can be DIed out after the third hit (at least with light characters like Falco and Meta Knight).
The thing with this game's mechanics is that many moves that don't tumble can barely be DIed at all, including Marth's Uair and Forward/Down Throw at low percents. Players will rarely Smash DI any of Marth's aerials except his Nair in obvious set ups (such as Marth doing a Fthrow to Nair on Meta Knight at 0%). Try yourself any landing Uair into something like Nair, Uair or Usmash at 0% (that means not doing the Uair early, but doing it right before landing). It's legit and very easy to execute because of the 10 frames buffering window in this game. I usually space it or cross them up in a way they don't expect it so that even when they block it I can get away with it unpunished most of the time. The Nair set up at high %s is pretty hard to land though. When you do it you usually leave your feet and head exposed, the first hit only lasts 2 frames and if it's not well spaced it's very punishable on block. I've gotten the KO several times before though. If you land that first Nair then the Up tilt definitely works unless they like SDI or something, which I've not noticed someone doing it cause in such situations cause people almost never expect it. The reason I don't think Dair is as bad as that guy said is because while I agree that it's pretty hard to land the Dair sweetspot. Even if I sourspot it I still often still keep the opponent in an unfavoreable position so I find it worth going for many times considering how big of a reward it can give when you succesfully sweetspot it on someone offstage.
I stick with Smashboards and All is Brawl because there are better competitive tips there from people like CJ and Pierce7d. I just felt like helping because I felt like the article didn't accurately explain how Marth/his moves work (which I can understand because it took me a lot of time before truelly understanding the good and bad sides of Marth and his moves). I don't really want to make an account here I just wanted to fix some small things. "176.70.140.191 14:08, 26 January 2014 (EST)"
:Good to know about your experience with this game. Anyway, are you sure the "top players" you're referring to are actually top players? Do they warrant an article on this wiki, do they have any notable tournament placings in national events? 100% guaranteed combos in Brawl that aren't grab releases or moves that can be chained into themselves/followed up with another move before the opponent is able to act out of the hitstun usually take an extensively large amount of testing.
:I can see what you mean about those aerial combos that you're bringing up. I have little knowledge about most of the characters' hitstun and ability to escape specific combos in Brawl, and I only really bother learning about stuff about the characters I main, though I'm aware that Marth can do stuff like forward/down throw → tipper forward smash. You're convincing me that the aerial things could work in a similar way, though I still don't have much knowledge on these things. I won't debate this too much, maybe you should bring it up to one of the more knowledgeable users on the wiki. <span style="color:#0000FF"">S</span><span style="color:#7F7FFF">c</span><span style="color:#00FFFF">r</span><span style="color:#FF7F00">7</span>(talk · contribs) 14:48, 26 January 2014 (EST)
Actually I don't think there is a think as hitstun being dependent on characters. With Marth's throws for example it's all about his throws being "slower" on heavier characters. With top players I mean players like Mikeneko, Mr R and Leon. I've learnt a huge amount by just watching Mikeneko, who is IMO the best Marth. If you have good knowledge about Brawl then you should know all these 3 players. And I'm fairly sure that moves can hardly be DIed when they don't send in tumble state (moves start sending the opponent in a tumble state very early in general). That's why people combo a lot at low %s with MK Uairs into moves like another Uair, Nair or Up b and why Falco can chain grab at low %s for example. They can't air dodge as early when the move doesn't tumble either I think. Learning about the DI ability when the moves don't tumble is definitely relevant with Meta Knight and Pikachu. "176.70.140.191 15:15, 26 January 2014 (EST)"
:Yeah I've heard of and know about those three players. And I'm pretty sure that chains such as MK's up aerial/Sheik's forward tilt/Falco's down throw/etc. are possible because the next move can be performed within a low enough amount of frames so that the opponent is unable to act out of the hitstun via an air dodge or something. I'm also pretty sure that the characters not being able to air dodge due to the tumbling is in large part because of the move's knockback growth. <span style="color:#0000FF"">S</span><span style="color:#7F7FFF">c</span><span style="color:#00FFFF">r</span><span style="color:#FF7F00">7</span>(talk · contribs) 15:21, 26 January 2014 (EST)
Yeah all those moves have little lag which is also a reason combos with those moves work. A landing Uair with Marth has very little lag as well (only 8 frames landing lag) which is why it can combo into other moves. Actually it's the lack of tumbling that makes them unable to hitstun cancel with Air dodge (with tumbling I mean hitting so that when they land they fall on their back unless they tech, the game is programmed so that when you get hit into tumble mode, which will always happen if you get hit by stronger moves, you can air dodge after like 13 frames or something like that). I don't have the hitstun frame data but without tumbling it should be around 25 frames for many moves like Sheik's Ftilt. "15:50, 26 January 2014 (EST)"

Grab releases in Smash 64

What happens in Smash 64 if you don't have grab releases? Awesome Cardinal 2000 23:01, 21 September 2013 (EDT)

DK's infinite throw trap is technically abusing a grab release. Also I think characters can mash out of grabs.--BrianDon't try me!Falco.gif 23:24, 21 September 2013 (EDT)

What happens after they mash out of grabs? Awesome Cardinal 2000 23:35, 21 September 2013 (EDT)
Never mind; sorry for filling up your talk page. I didn't to check the grab article first... Awesome Cardinal 2000 23:48, 21 September 2013 (EDT)

If you wait for too long when grabbing a character, you'll automatically perform a forward throw. Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 03:05, 22 September 2013 (EDT)

And I don't think DK's f-throw release is really considered a grab release, it's just something about the f-throw. Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 03:20, 22 September 2013 (EDT)

What happens then after the opponent breaks free from the f-throw? Awesome Cardinal 2000 16:15, 22 September 2013 (EDT)
Meh, DK simply loses hold of them. I'm not sure if should be considered a grab release though. Also I'm unsure about mashing out of grabs tbh, maybe I could look into it. Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 16:17, 22 September 2013 (EDT)
Are DK and the opponent unable to act for a few frames or something? Awesome Cardinal 2000 19:30, 22 September 2013 (EDT)
DK can act while the opponent won't be able to for some moments, allowing DK to do things like regrabs. Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 11:42, 23 September 2013 (EDT)

Image tagging

Ensure an image is not used on any pages before tagging it for deletion. If an image isn't needed on articles it's used on, remove the image from these articles. Then after a day or so the image remains unused, and no one disputes the image removal, then tag it for deletion. Omega Tyrant TyranitarMS.png 10:22, 24 September 2013 (EDT)

"Finishing off" someone's work

If you see that someone is doing something such as renaming an image, don't immediately fix its link yourself as it's usually not helpful for the person who's in the process of doing it. Wait for the person to finish it by themself as that's what they will usually do. Only finish it if it doesn't get changed after a while. Awesome Cardinal 2000 16:10, 9 October 2013 (EDT)

The unsigned template

There's something weird with however you're using the unsigned template: there's an invisible character between the year and the }}. You can tell because it takes two cursor presses to go through it instead of just one. Try to avoid that, it can confuse the bots.

First of all, I'd just like to say you seem like a cool, knowledgable, helpful guy (thanks for cleaning up after me brah). Secondly, in reference to your recent recent changes comment, the Pikachu page is not loading at all for me either. What gives? Oasidu (talk) 16:28, 15 October 2013 (EDT)

Yeah it's weird. For me it seems to depend on what page I'm going to it from; sometimes it's fine and other times it's stuck. Could have something to do with the 2.5MB of gifs but that doesn't look like an issue on other heavily-animated pages. Toomai Glittershine ??? The Metroid 16:31, 15 October 2013 (EDT)
I don't think a lot of images would cause this. I've had this problem with three pages so far (Camping, Pikachu (SSB), and User:Scr7/Sandbox/SSB64 Character Techniques Sections), none of which have an excessively high amount of images, while my images subpage is /full/ of images yet loads normally for me. Hey, I meant to post this last night but I stayed up way too late and fell asleep... After Fireblaze77's little escapade, the page-loading problems began recurring, but on the pages he messed with and Planking (as well as another page I can no longer recall). They seem to be fine now but I thought I'd give you a heads-up, mate. Cheers Oasidu (talk) 12:36, 22 October 2013 (EDT)

That thing happened while I was asleep (a lot of events like this seem to happen while I'm asleep lol). The only page that still has loading problems for me is this one; it's been like that for some time now... Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 12:54, 22 October 2013 (EDT)
Wow, incidentally, I tried to click that link and surprise, it didn't work (only the edit screen has let me see its destination's name lol). What's the data amount like on that page? Any obvious (hell, even improbable would be semi-useful) reason this could be happening? Oasidu (talk) 16:32, 22 October 2013 (EDT)

Hey

Hey, Scr7. Sorry about all the small edits; I don't have much time on my hands, so I do what I can in a small amount of time. Tactical Meteor is my personal friend, and I don't know how to directly chat with you so I'm editing this page to put my message here. I don't understand why small edits are a big deal. In my opinion, as long as the page gets done eventually, it'll be fine. But I'll try my best to finish the page soon. Sorry about any confusion or inconvenience. Smash On, -Thriftymeat245, edtior for TacticalMeteor page. P.S. If you could help me change the "User" heading to "Smasher" on the TacticalMeteor page that would be awesome, cuz I don't know how to do that. New messages go on the bottom of the page not the top. It's better to make one big edit instead of multiple small edits so that you don't flood RecentChanges and make your edits easier for us to track. Awesome Cardinal 2000 21:14, 16 November 2013 (EST)
Also, if you do end up making a lot of edits, it may be better to mark them as minor so they take up less space on the recent changes. And sign your comments by typing the four tildes (~~~~). Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 04:03, 17 November 2013 (EST)

"Butthurt"

I don't really think it's a good idea to use the word "butthurt" to refer to other users. It's not really a personal attack, but it seems like the kind of term that would cause an argument to escalate, which we don't want. Toomai Glittershine ??? El Pollo 12:12, 28 November 2013 (EST)

Good to know about your experience with this game.
I can see what you mean about those aerial combos that you're bringing up. Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 14:48, 26 January 2014 (EST)

Yeah I've heard of and know about those three players. Scr7Scr7 sig.png(talk · contribs) 15:21, 26 January 2014 (EST)
