User talk:Scr7/Archive 1
Hi there!
Welcome to our wiki, and thank you for your contributions! There's a lot to do around here, so I hope you'll stay with us and make many more improvements.
- Recent changes is a great first stop, because you can see what other people are editing right this minute, and where you can help.
- Questions? You can ask at the help desk or on the "discussion" page associated with each article, or post a message on my talk page!
- Need help? The community portal has an outline of the site, and pages to help you learn how to edit.
I'm really happy to have you here, and look forward to working with you!

The image icon that you currently using for your signature cannot be in it since its also used in an article. It must be user images only. You can however duplicate that image to make it your user image. Dots The Metal Gear REX 11:39, 18 June 2013 (EDT)

Smasherbeta image
I have three images that can appear in my smasherbeta, being randomly chosen, but the only one that I ever see is the MK one. Why is this? Did I do something wrong? Scr7 09:17, 10 July 2013 (EDT)
Where are you getting these moveset names from?
The quality of names for moves you're putting on Melee hitbox pages is super-inconsistent, with an approximately equal dose of "cool" (Buzzsaw, Iron Shoulder), "uninformative" (Reflex Test, Scrub Brush), and "lame" (Plumber Kick, Ceiling Scratch Floor). What's your source? Toomai Glittershine The Riotous 17:59, 12 July 2013 (EDT)
- May I ask where you are getting your names from? I also think we should get rid of the Name column and add it in the description only if it is very well known (such as Mario's dair called Mario Tornado etc.) Awesome Cardinal 2000 20:02, 12 July 2013 (EDT)
- I make names up on the spot, attempting to keep weak names like "Slow Kick" for things like edge attacks while making each name descriptive of the attack's animation and/or properties. I asked because I'm curious as to whether it's a pseudo-official source like a player's guide or whether he's also making them up himself. Toomai Glittershine The Yellow 20:09, 12 July 2013 (EDT)
- I think so too. All those ridiculous inofficial names noone ever uses should just be disposed of. Kadano (talk) 08:09, 5 September 2013 (EDT)
RE:Brawl
I can't at the moment because I'm on holiday, but sometime after 13th August, I think I will be. But I haven't played Brawl in a while and too used to Melee so I have to sharpen my skills lol. But sure, I hope we Brawl sometime! ----- Conanshinichi 14:49, 17 July 2013 (EDT)

You have just made 9 edits to the same user subpage. In the future, use the preview button so you make less edits to prevent these edits from clogging recent changes. DoctorPain99 16:13, 19 July 2013 (EDT)
Mass redirect creation
I'm curious, are you aware of the S template? - Ceci n’est pas un Smiddle. 10:20, 23 July 2013 (EDT)

- Also, if you only want to link to a category, use [[:Category:Asdf]], with a colon in front, otherwise the page will be placed in the category, as happened with your redirects. - Ceci n’est pas un Smiddle. 10:15, 24 July 2013 (EDT)
That was atrocious.
Do not abuse the dice function on ChanServ like that. DoctorPain99 17:17, 24 July 2013 (EDT)
- I apologize for being an idiot, I won't spam one of those things again. Scr7 17:35, 24 July 2013 (EDT)

Hey!
Hey Scr7! It's me SmashBro55. I want to thank you for sending me that message. I look forward to working with you too. I was wondering, does your name come the word Scar? Oh, and do you want to be friends?
Thanks!
--SmashBro55 (talk) 15:05, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
- My name doesn't really come from anything.
- Friends? Sure.
- By the way, a welcome message is sent to anyone who's contributed to the mainspace of the wiki.
- Scr7 15:36, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
I told you to stop already.
>He is also rather annoying on the IRC
- Ok why exactly are you acting like you wanna fight? I did absolutely nothing to you. Come on grow up, and why do you have the urge to say fuck in every sentence you say to me? It is a game. I'm sorry I bashed your Meta Knight. I guess it is ok. But you just have to get used to the physics change. Brawl stages are much smaller than Smash 64 stages, you have to learn to DI and momentum cancel properly or find a way to avoid the fsmash. LightningBlue 21:26, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
- I suggest you (both of you) settle down and then come back onto IRC later and settle this in a more calm manner. Fighting and arguing is not the solution and when you're not in the best of moods, you tend to do/say things you regret. Just make sure to remain respectful toward each other, please. DoctorPain99 21:31, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
- Alright i apologize. Scr7 04:21, 3 August 2013 (EDT)

Actually, all characters confirmed in the WiiU version are confirmed in the 3DS version, this can be confirmed in an interview, he says that the amount of characters in the game are identical. LightningBlue 13:04, 4 August 2013 (EDT)

This claim
As worded, this doesn't totally make sense to me. Are you saying that a stored partial punch thrown by double-tapping is stronger than one thrown while charging for an equal number of winds? Toomai Glittershine The Undirigible 18:04, 8 August 2013 (EDT)
- Yes. A punch that you just double-tap will be stronger than one that you store before using it. Scr7 03:33, 9 August 2013 (EDT)
- That confuses things even further; double-tapping is the standard way to use a stored partly charged punch to ensure it fires without charging any more. Toomai Glittershine The Dispenser 06:13, 9 August 2013 (EDT)
- What? By just double-tapping i mean starting the punch windup and pressing B again to attack, without shielding to store it (which will make it weaker). Scr7 06:16, 9 August 2013 (EDT)
- Okay, so by "double-tapping" I mean "press the button as fast as possible so you don't build any charge", while you mean "use the punch without storing it or letting it get to fully charged".
- This is still a bit unusual to hear; I wasn't aware the game could tell how many times a particular punch has had its charge stored. I'll have to look at it. Toomai Glittershine The Interspacial 06:26, 9 August 2013 (EDT)

- Alright, so while I don't currently have time for a full-scale test, I did some preliminaries in the Home-Run Contest, and what it looks like to me is that we're seeing a difference in the number of swings the game counts, not a difference based on whether the punch has been stored. Redirects
In general if a link is laid out as [[A|B]] and B redirects to A, it is never preferable to remove the link to A. Redirects should be used primarily for ease of searching, and, while not urgent, in general it is good practice to avoid using redirects when writing links in the first place. Miles (talk) 15:37, 17 August 2013 (EDT)
Um Miles, this disagrees. Toomai Glittershine The Metroid 15:40, 17 August 2013 (EDT)
- I would revise a lot of the details in the MoS if I didn't think some users would raise a storm over it. A lot of it seems like it's poorly thought out. Miles (talk) 15:42, 17 August 2013 (EDT)
- For this issue specifically, Wikipedia explains why redirects are fine and even preferred as links. Toomai Glittershine The Brass 16:01, 17 August 2013 (EDT)

Unknown Grassy stage being DK stage
This unknown grassy stage has to be a DK stage it looks a lot like a DK stage! It looks like its based on Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luigi1234 (talk • contribs) 10:56, 28 August 2013
- 1. Yes it may look like it, but there's no official source that says that. So it's speculation, and we don't have speculation in articles
- 2. Sign your comments with the four tidles (~~~~).
- 3. You should reply to messages on your talk page, not the talk page of the person who sent the message.

(for number 3) why —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luigi1234 (talk • contribs) 10:59, 28 August 2013
- It makes it easier to follow the conversation, and you didn't sign again. Type ~~~~ at the end of each post you make. Scr7 =D 07:04, 28 August 2013 (EDT)
- If you don't sign the unsigned template will be added to the end of your post, and it stays like that. Scr7 =D 07:09, 28 August 2013 (EDT)
Congratulations
A Brawl
Are you busy? Trainer Crazymasterhand wants to fight. Crazymasterhand is going to send out Toon Link. Friend code is 1250-0901-7790. I'm available at any Friday or weekend, and some other days outside of these. Ready for battle? Crazymasterhand98

Screen hacks for emulated photos
Would you try using the dolphin emulator, using the widescreen hack option and setting the aspect ratio to force 4:3 and re-uploading the gifs and other files in full-screen like that? Oh and use the aspect ratio on 16:9 on the game settings for that to be on full frame.--Brandondorf 20:26, 15 September 2013 (EDT)
- Scr7, please do not listen to Brandondorf. As a rule of this wiki's image policy, edited images (such as ones with hacks) should not normally be on mainspace articles. He should know this, as he has been blocked for uploading such images in the past. Thank you! DarkFox01Survival! 20:47, 15 September 2013 (EDT)
Tournament results for tables
I would not recommend using tables to display tournament results, as they really inflate the size of the page. Awesome Cardinal 2000 15:00, 16 September 2013 (EDT)
- True, but it's easier to read than just listing everything line-by-line because the content doesn't look all cramped and piled on top of itself. Scr7(talk · contribs) 15:13, 16 September 2013 (EDT)
- It isn't cramped or hard to read imo when it's not in tables. Awesome Cardinal 2000 15:27, 16 September 2013 (EDT)
- Well the content is all over the place when not in tables. In tables it looks much more organized. Scr7(talk · contribs) 15:28, 16 September 2013 (EDT)
- It's not all over the place, the head icons, earnings, and flags are clearly listed next to the player's name while saving 7,000 bytes of text. Awesome Cardinal 2000 17:50, 16 September 2013 (EDT)
- If you actually look at an old revision of the page, it is clearly all over the place, with no way to make it more organized. Scr7(talk · contribs) 17:52, 16 September 2013 (EDT)
