Luigi (SSBU)

Luigi (ルイージ, Luigi) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He was revealed along with the rest of the roster on June 12th, 2018.

Changes from Super Smash Bros. 4

Luigi's appearance is based from his most recent appearances such as Super Mario Odyssey.

Aesthetics

  • Change Like most of the returning roster, Luigi has become much more expressive than in the previous games.
  • Change Luigi has a new dashing animation that is akin to how he runs in Super Mario 3D World.
  • Change His attacks are much more vibrant such as a vortex forming when he performs Luigi Cyclone, spinning when Green Missile misfires, or wincing in the final part of his up taunt. Additionally, Luigi's charging animation for the Green Missile has been changed.

Attributes

  • Change Luigi has a new up tilt, a short uppercut.
  • Change Luigi has a new side tilt, which appears to be faster than his previous one.
  • Change Luigi's Super Jump Punch sweetspot now uses the new "Power Hit" effect.

Trivia

  • Luigi's official artwork uses the "hip thrust" pose from his neutral attack's third hit, which returns from Super Smash Bros. 4.
