User talk:The Awesome/Archive 1
Let's talk about something. The Awesome 16:54, 27 June 2012 (EDT)
Hi there!
Welcome to our wiki, and thank you for your contributions! There's a lot to do around here, so I hope you'll stay with us and make many more improvements.
- Recent changes is a great first stop, because you can see what other people are editing right this minute, and where you can help.
- Please sign in, if you haven't already, and create a user name! It's free, and it'll help you keep track of all your edits. See SmashWiki:Why create an account? for more info on creating an account.
- Questions? You can ask at the Help desk or on the "discussion" page associated with each article, or post a message on my talk page!
- Need help? The community portal has an outline of the site, and pages to help you learn how to edit.
I'm really happy to have you here, and look forward to working with you!

The preview button
Please try to make one edit to a page instead of multiple small edits. Something that can help you with this is the "Show preview" button located next to the "Save page" button at the bottom of your screen. Clicking this button will allow you to see any changes you would like to make or mistakes to correct before saving. Mousehunter321 (talk · contributions) 14:50, 13 July 2012 (EDT)
Using comments to advertise
Smash Arena comments should be used for discussing the round. I don't think you should be advertising your own stuff in them. Toomai Glittershine The Victorious 18:06, 16 July 2012 (EDT)
Caption Contest
Don't want to come across as a sore loser, but did you seriously think that R.O.BitySonic's caption was the best, or is it some sort of joke? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBekX4mm59w Sonicsidekick95 14:23, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
- I'm a sore loser (I ragequit.), but it has to do with green more. or The Awesome likes caption suggestions from Sonic mains and final caption suggestions. ShupaRoeh 14:39, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
Yes, but don't worry someone else will be the winner for the next one. The Awesome 14:52, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
- That basically says the contest is rigged so the same person can't win the contest two times in a row. This may also mean you thought Sonicsidekick95's caption was superior, but you crowned a different competitor anyway. Toast ltimatum 14:53, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
No, I mean't that the same person might be the winner but it is up to me to decide who's the winner. The Awesome 14:55, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
Well I don't see the point of entering this caption contest anymore, also, what is the point of R.O.BitySonic entering this new one? You have already said "don't worry someone else will be the winner for the next one" I was enjoying this as well but if it's not being judged fairly, then I don't know why I should bother putting the effort in trying to think of something good... Sonicsidekick95 19:11, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
No, I don't want anyone to quit. I just want to host. The Awesome 00:44, 25 July 2012 (EDT)
I'm disappointed, what you have now done putting a second and third seems to me like an obvious attempt at being a tw@, Not being first, yeah, I can understand, not being in the top three? Now I'm kinda pi$$ed, two people have already said I should of won but also, I don't get how you could think ShupaRoehs caption was better than toasts, I mean, no offence but it wasn't funny at all? Sonicsidekick95 12:04, 25 July 2012 (EDT)
- Stop insulting The Awesome's taste in comments, and stop acting like a sore loser. ShupaRoeh 12:12, 25 July 2012 (EDT)
- This was brought up on IRC yesterday and I have to admit that both Toast's and Sonicsidekick's captions were much better than the winners, which was grammatically horrible, didn't make any sense and shouldn't have won. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 12:48, 25 July 2012 (EDT)
ShupaRoeh, obviously you are going to support TheAwesome, because he is favouring your captions, but everyone else (and thank-you Solar Dragon) can see that the contest is rigged. I had in the back of my mind when entering the contest if TheAwesome would let the same person win twice and he has proven on here that, that is the case, when TheAwesome says "Yes, but don't worry someone else will be the winner for the next one" that says to me that there was no point in entering that second contest as I never could of won no matter how good my comment was, just like there is no point in R.O.BitySonic entering the new contest as TheAwesome has already said he wont be the winner, no matter how good his comment is. Sonicsidekick95 15:31, 25 July 2012 (EDT)
Ok, then tell me how to fix this situation so that everybody will be happy!!! The Awesome 21:57, 25 July 2012 (EDT)
- By judging the contest fairly and letting the best caption win, rather than just giving everybody a chance at winning, it shouldn't matter how many times you have won, or not won before, the best caption should win. Sonicsidekick95 09:01, 26 July 2012 (EDT)
Sonicsidekick, this time I will do it right. if there is an error to a decision, just tell me, all right. The Awesome 19:21, 26 July 2012 (EDT)
- Sure I'll help you judge it Sonicsidekick95 19:29, 26 July 2012 (EDT)
Also, can u help me getting more people to enter the contest? The Awesome 20:36, 1 August 2012 (EDT)
I'm just here to say I'm on Mr. Awesome's side. I can say I understand exactly what he meant. Just wanna tell you, Awesome. Shanicpower Make it rain! 12:03, 1 September 2012 (EDT)
Hello there SW:NOT
I noticed that you have been mainly been contributing to only your userpages and Smash Arena since you joined here. While these thing are ok, we don't expect you to be only focusing on it since its not being helpful to the wiki. For a warning, continuing this kind of act will result in your userpage getting protected so you won't edit it in a while until you show some helpful work. Dots The Hammer (bro) 15:00, 24 July 2012 (EDT)
- I have no idea what to do about that. The Awesome 22:18, 25 July 2012 (EDT)
- You could try to edit mainspace pages, such as character or stage pages (i.e. Mario, Jungle Japes), or just click the "Random page" button above the search bar and see if the page you end up on needs anything changed (even if it's only grammar). JamesHeartless 22:27, 26 July 2012 (EDT)
All right. I did one. The Awesome 20:37, 1 August 2012 (EDT)
- Heisann.
- It has been a tad over a month, and I can't help but notice that that single mainspace edit you made on the first of August remains the only mainspace edit you've ever made. On the contrary, userspace edits take up the bulk of your edits, at a staggering 61%. Another 15% can be found from Forumspace edits, which likely is composed entirely of Smash Arena votes; per SW:NOT, SmashWiki is not just Smash Arena.
- While I cannot make the threat, I will warn you that continuing your currently editing habits could cause one of our admins to lock down your entire userspace until you start constructively editing the mainspace.
- That's all.
Per the above, once the probation group is created, you will be put under it if you continue to not make any constructive edits. And if anymore userspace edits are made before you've done sufficient constructive editing, I will lock your userspace. Omega Tyrant 06:00, 4 September 2012 (EDT)
- Ok, Omega. My mainspace edits have increased to 13%, even more than the forumspace edits. The Awesome 19:45, 13 September 2012 (EDT)
Show Preview
When you are editing a page or the Smash Arena, it is recommended you click the Show Preview button before clicking Save Page, as this allows you to see any mistakes you may have made without saving the page. You made three edits to the Smash Arena today, when you could have done it in one if you used Show Preview. Toast ltimatum 16:05, 5 August 2012 (EDT)
Its also pretty useful when you want to vote on multiple matches. Dots The Asian 15:50, 14 August 2012 (EDT)
Editing Others' Comments
You may not like Sonicsidekick95's YouTube link, but the reality is, you're not allowed to do anything about it. You can respond to Sonicsidekick95 on his talk page, or here (I'm in easy contact with the guy, so I'd let him know), but you can't edit his comment. Toast ltimatum 15:01, 3 September 2012 (EDT)
- But he made fun of me!! Can't u do something about it??? The Awesome 18:18, 4 September 2012 (EDT)

@ToastUltimatum ok you talk to him about this. The Awesome 15:34, 6 September 2012 (EDT)
Your edits
Your trivia edits have been extremely obvious, and you continue to edit pages in the same way, apparently unaware that people are reverting your edits. In the future, you might want to use Recent Changes. If you already do so, I recommend you check the box saying "AJAX" next to Recent Changes's page title so it live-updates. Air Conditioner Clever text goes here. 19:04, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
"Appeared in all Smash games" trivia
Hi, I noticed your mainspace edits are primarily additions to trivia sections that point out some element has appeared in all Smash games. I'm here to to tell you, nearly every time, such trivia is bad trivia. It's pretty much always obvious (of course Mario is going to be in every Smash game), it's pretty much never interesting, and with only three smash games, there are many many things are prevalent in each game (so it's nothing unique to have been in all Smash games). The only exception to this would be something rather obscure and specific that's prevalent without much explanation behind it (such as Link and Captain Falcon weighing the exact same in each game). Otherwise, you should stop trying to add such trivia, and look into other areas on the Wiki to improve. Omega Tyrant 18:13, 11 September 2012 (EDT)
- Sorry, there is so much space taken to write. I'll try harder The Awesome 18:17, 11 September 2012 (EDT)
On your recent edits to "SmashWiki:Probation".
Per SmashWiki:Only revert once, users are not to revert an edit that itself was a revert; while there do exist exceptions, such as for obvious cases of vandalism or misinformation, this case does not fall into either category. If you want to debate the reversion, use a talk page of some sort, either the other user's, or the actual article's page.

Preview button again
Ayo, you've been warned two times previously to use the preview button. Make unnecessary excessive edits to the same page again from neglecting preview, and you'll get a block. Also, you certainly do not want to be inflating your userspace edits when you're on the thin line between no restrictions and probation. Omega Tyrant 16:15, 20 September 2012 (EDT)

Your new signature, and other guff.
Heisann.
You are quite likely sick of seeing me on your talkpage, but it seems no one else on IRC seems to want to do this.
Your new signature, as seen on this talkpage, violates the current signature guidelines, specifically on dealing with images. While on small, non-intrusive image is allowed on signatures, you cannot have an image from the mainspace (that is, without a [[Category:User images]] tag on it) in your signature.
You are, however, free to reupload mainspace images under a different filename, tag them as user images, then use them in your signature.
Skål.

Userpages
They are not your property. Whether or not you agree with changes made other users to your userpage does not matter if the change is a change so that the userpage will not violate a rule or instigate a fight. MegaTron1XD 20:04, 21 September 2012 (EDT)
- Of course it's my property. Next time if you want to edit my page, tell me on the talk page. The Awesome 16:54, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
- You do not own your userpage, it belongs to the Wiki just like any other page. While you may be the one who gets to decide the content of it, you do not have absolute control over it, and users are not forbidden from never being able to edit another's userpage regardless of circumstance. Omega Tyrant 18:49, 25 September 2012 (EDT)
Welcoming users
In general, you should only welcome users when they've made a constructive edit. MegaTron1XD 19:30, 26 September 2012 (EDT)
Understanding out Policies and Guidelines
Hi, I've noticed that you have been told multiple times to follow various policies and guidelines on this wiki, most recently that SmashWiki is not Fanon. I would suggest you take some time to read through our policies and guidelines, to prevent future warnings and notifications by the other users here. Mr. Anontalk 17:00, 28 September 2012 (EDT)
Delete tags
Never remove them completely without valid reason. If you see a delete tag, and you don't like it, take it to the talk page, don't just remove the tag. As it happens, SmashWiki does not accept fanon content here, so your Super Smash Flash articles are unacceptable here. Toast ltimatum 17:15, 28 September 2012 (EDT)
- Additionally, you have just broken our Only revert once policy. You have reverted Anon's edits to Super Smash Flash and Super Smash Flash 2 multiple times, which breaks the policy. It may seem like Anon and me are doing the same thing by reverting your edits, but SW:1RV states that exclusions can be made in one-sided cases, and the existance of a Super Smash Flash article breaks our SW:NOT policy, so we were allowed to do this. In situations like these, you should always post on the article's talk page, and not just blindly revert Anon's and my edits repeatedly. Toast ltimatum 17:20, 28 September 2012 (EDT)
In addition, go to this abandoned site instead if you would like to put in fanon stuff. Dots The Safari 17:22, 28 September 2012 (EDT)
All right, I'm sorry for what I did. Does this mean I get blocked? The Awesome 17:25, 28 September 2012 (EDT)
- Nope. Bandit 17:28, 28 September 2012 (EDT)
- While I don't have a right to confirm, it's unlikely you would be punished for these rule breaks, as you were clearly unaware of them. But now that you are aware, future rule breaks wouldn't be taken so lightly. Again, this is just me assuming, as I don't have control over blocks, but I figured I'd tell you so you're slightly more comfortable.
SmashWiki:Manual of Style
I noticed that you moved Spin glitch to Spin Glitch. According to the Manual of Style, things that are not proper nouns or are not capitalized in game (Spin glitch was not even meant to be in the game) are named in lowercase, barring the first letter. The page has been moved back to Spin glitch, so don't worry about it. Toast ltimatum 14:49, 29 September 2012 (EDT)
Stub Marking
Marking everything for stubs and incomplete sections isn't going to get you out of probation if you're in the zone. Quality before quantity, especially if the quality of the edits are so horrible, that they're nothing more but a waste of other users' time to undo the edit. MegaTron1XD 16:34, 29 September 2012 (EDT)
Do not move the stub template.
It is completely pointless to simply move a stub template to the top of the page if it's already there. Toomai Glittershine The Victorious 16:00, 30 September 2012 (EDT)

- How about you read Help:Archiving talk pages to find out how to do it yourself? It's pretty easy.BlindColours 17:25, 30 September 2012 (EDT)
Simplified rule:Add '/Archive 1' to the title of this exact page by pressing move. Create another page of your usertalk. Add the archive template. Don't worry about adding archive pages to your archive box. ShupaRoeh 17:35, 30 September 2012 (EDT)
