The Skill parameter has been removed from Smasher infoboxes, and in its place are the new "Best historical ranking" and "Best tournament result" parameters. SmashWiki needs help adding these new parameters to Smasher infoboxes, refer to the guidelines here for what should be included in these new parameters. |
When adding results to Smasher pages, include each tournament's entrant number in addition to the player's placement, and use the {{Trn}} template with the matching game specified. Please also fix old results on Smasher pages that do not abide to this standard. Refer to our Smasher article guidelines to see how results tables should be formatted. |

Hax$ (pronounced "Hax Money", May 7th, 1994 – March 25th, 2025), informally known as Hax, was a Super Smash Bros. Melee player based in Manhattan. With a career that spanned for over a decade, he is considered one of the greatest Melee players from New York City and the Tristate area as a whole.
Hax$'s career began in the late 2000s, where he broke out onto the scene at Pound 3 using Captain Falcon with the pink costume (commonly known as Captain Fabulous or Pink Falcon). By 2013, he was considered the best Captain Falcon player in the world and was ranked in the top 10, but despite this achievement he switched to solo-maining Fox in early-2014, where he remained a top 20 threat for several years and became widely regarded as the most technical Fox player of his time. He went on an indefinite hiatus in April 2016 due to having a calcified FCU tendon, which was left untreated because no surgeon was willing to remove it. During this hiatus, he worked on the B0XX, a controller designed in a similar vein to the Smash Box by Hitbox, after having tested the Smash Box and finding it unsatisfactory. After receiving treatment for his hand problems, he slowly returned to competitive play in the following year, notably attending various Melee events showcasing the potential of the B0XX, and spent a long time balancing it to be as fair to a GameCube controller as possible. Even with the controller change, Hax remained a threat in competitive play, and by 2019, he was considered to be playing at a level similar to when he played on a GameCube controller.
Hax's tournament career ended in June 2021, where he was indefinitely banned for violating the then-active SSB Code of Conduct Panel's 2.2.1 (Level 2) and 2.2.3 (Level 3) offences due to his comments regarding Leffen.[1] Hax made many appeals to his indefinite ban within the next few years, with his appeals gaining support amongst many players in the Smash community. Despite the support, Hax remained banned in his region, as tournament organizers believed Hax's actions during his ban did not justify his return to competitive play.
After being hospitalized for several days, Abdulaziz "Hax$" Al-Yami passed away peacefully at 7:09 A.M. on March 25th, 2025, at the age of 30.
On March 24th, 2025, a GoFundMe was released on Hax's Twitter account where his mother informed the community that Hax$ had been on a ventilator in the ICU. The GoFundMe was initially meant to raise funds for Hax's funeral processions as doctors initially expected him to pass away the night before; however, upon Hax surviving through the night it was changed to support Hax. The GoFundMe attracted attention from across the Smash community, with prominent figures in the community such as Mew2King,[2] Armada,[3] and Cody Schwab spreading awareness about Hax's situation, while Hungrybox chose to fly to New York to visit Hax.[4] The GoFundMe eventually reached over $42,000.
Unfortunately, the following day at 7:06 AM, Hax passed away. Though no cause of death have been released as of yet, Hax's mother claimed it was due to a "broken heart, he cried a lot towards the end, and most people didn't understand how much he loved being a gamer, it was his passion in life".[5] The news of his passing led to an outpour of grief online, with many players across all Smash titles posting condolences and fond memories regarding Hax. In addition, several players voiced their anger towards the Melee community for their alleged poor treatment of Hax's case.
