Coinbox IRL 2 was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate superregional invitational held in Washington, D.C. from December 7th-8th, 2024.

Players invited/qualified

The following ten players were invited:

*Sparg0 later dropped out of the event. An additional spot to the Last Chance Qualifier as a result.

The highest placing player at The Coinbox 118 - Coinbox IRL Qualifier qualified:

•  ESAM (who finished 2nd)**

**The winner of the tournament, Maister, was unable to make the tournament, and as such the spot was given to ESAM.

The highest placing player at The EU To-Go Box: Coinbox IRL LCQ Edition qualified:

•  crêpe salée (who finished 1st)

Tournament summary

There were a few upsets during the round robin pools, and as a result most players who were seeded to enter the final bracket did just that. The exception was Riddles who went 0-3 in his round robin, which includes losing to Bruho, and as such was eliminated at 13th. In addition, TM7_ZAP's upset over crêpe salée meant crêpe salée had to begin in the losers side of the final bracket. Finally, LCQ winner Syrup defeated Lima to enter the winner's side of the final bracket.

The final bracket saw most Steve players triumph over the Sonic players, with the exception being crêpe salée who lost to Wrath to place 9th. This includes Onin defeating previous Coinbox IRL winner Sonix 3-2, the first time Sonix had lost to a Steve player since he lost to DDee in Losers Finals at Magi Game Night 96, which took place over two years prior. Sonix was eventually eliminated by Shuton 2-3, the third time he had lost to Shuton that season. Shuton himself went on a lengthy Losers run after losing to Syrup in Winners Semi-Finals, defeating Sonix, Onin 3-2, and ShinyMark 3-1 to meet Syrup again in Grand Finals. Syrup himself made an incredible run despite only qualifying through the last chance qualifier, which includes winning his runback against ShinyMark from the round robins phase 3-2 using Ness, the first time ShinyMark had lost to a Ness player at a ranked event. In Grand Finals, Shuton switched to Pyra and Mythra after the second game and was able to reset the bracket 3-2, however Syrup was able to win the reset 3-1 to win the entire event.
