Trivia[edit]
- Yggdrasil's Altar is not available in the tourney, making Dragon Quest the only series in the tourney to have no item or stage representation.
- Of the playable characters in this event, only Link, Zelda, Samus, Ridley, Pit, Palutena, and Simon also celebrate their 35th anniversaries along with their series.
- However, while Zero Suit Samus's debut with the Zero Suit was in 2004's Metroid: Zero Mission, the Super Smash Bros. series uses her to represent unarmored Samus in general, so she can be considered a stand-in for Samus appearing without her armor in the secret ending of Metroid.
- Of the characters on the banner, Erdrick is the only one to not debut in 1986, instead debuting in 1988. He is on the banner because he is the oldest hero in the Dragon Quest series playable in Ultimate.
