Maybe add a section about a large portion of the playerbase disliking Sakurai (a lot)? annoying1359 (talk) 00:12, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

I don't like the guy myself, but I think something like that would be too subjective, unneeded, and a great target for trolls. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 04:00, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

His role?[edit]

So...Do we actually know what exactly it is that he does? Because everyone always seems to be calling him some sort of superhuman one-man team.

As far as I know, he doesn't compose the soundtrack, he has little to nothing to do with the trophies, he isn't in charge of localization (he doesn't speak perfect English at all), and he doesn't even play that many games (this isn't possible for one person making a game of this scale). A game like Smash, especially of its scale, can't possibly take literally one person to make.

It's true that he is in charge of certain things (deciding the playable roster early on, posting about the game online during development, etc.), but this doesn't mean that 100% of the entirety of Smash was all his doing. He's confirmed numerous times himself that it isn't.

It's the same as people blaming America's problems on the President only. And it's not like the non-credits parts of the game are trying to tell you that he made it. (Aside from 'staples' like challenge grids) 108.71.237.182 18:31, 7 September 2015 (EDT)

I've read that he playtests the game and thinks of the movesets for the characters (I sure with I had that job!). Besides that though, he probably directs each of the departments making the game to make sure they're doing what he wants them to. John Ness (SSBB) PK SMAAAASH!! 18:37, 7 September 2015 (EDT)

Semi-protection[edit]

It has come to my attention that this page has been very frequently vandalized recently; I therefore propose that we semi-protect the page to help stop this. Any thoughts? Everone123 (userpagetalkcontribs) 22:19, 2 February 2019 (EST)
